About This JobThe AVP, Data Analytics - Regulatory Reporting is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production, accuracy, and timely delivery of all regulatory reporting obligations to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Reserve Board (FRB). This individual manages a team of 2 -3 data analysts and serves as the primary subject-matter expert and point of contact for regulatory data requests, examinations, and ad-hoc inquiries. The role requires a blend of technical data expertise, programming expertise, deep regulatory knowledge, and strong people management capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance- Own and manage all regulatory reporting submissions to agencies like OCC, FRB, etc.
- Ensure all reports are accurate, complete, and submitted within prescribed regulatory deadlines; maintain a robust internal review and sign-off process.
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests, examination requests, and regulatory inquiries from agencies in a timely and well-documented manner.
- Monitor evolving regulatory guidance and reporting requirements; proactively assess and implement changes to reporting processes and data definitions.
- Maintain and update written policies, procedures, and controls governing the regulatory reporting function.
Team Leadership & Development- Directly manage and mentor a team of 2-3 data analysts; set clear performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and support professional development goals.
- Coordinate workload distribution across the team to ensure coverage, quality, and on-time delivery for all reporting cycles and regulatory requests.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement; identify skill gaps and develop targeted training plans.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain analytical talent in collaboration with HR and senior leadership.
Data Management & Analytics- Oversee data sourcing, data quality controls, and reconciliation processes for all regulatory data inputs; maintain comprehensive data lineage documentation.
- Partner with IT, Finance, Accounting, Risk, and Compliance teams to design and implement scalable data pipelines and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and report errors.
- Leverage SQL, Python, or other analytics tools to extract, transform, and validate large datasets for reporting and analytical purposes.
- Drive data governance best practices within the team, including metadata management, data dictionaries, and audit trail documentation.
- Experience in working with Databricks environment is required
AI, Automation & Process Improvement- Identify and implement AI driven solutions to automate repetitive regulatory reporting workflows, reducing cycle time and manual error risk; partner with data engineering and model risk teams to deploy, validate, and monitor production models.
- Champion AI-augmented data governance by leveraging automated data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and intelligent lineage tracking tools (e.g., within Databricks Unity Catalog or equivalent) to strengthen audit-readiness and regulatory defensibility.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using process mining, workflow automation and NLP-based tools to streamline regulatory document review, data validation, and examiner response preparation.
Stakeholder Engagement- Serve as a key liaison between the analytics team and senior management, Compliance, Legal, and external regulators on all reporting and data matters.
- Present findings, reporting results, and issue summaries to VP and C-suite stakeholders in a clear and actionable format.
- Coordinate with Internal Audit and Model Risk Management to address findings and support remediation efforts related to regulatory reporting.
- Prepare and deliver briefing materials for agencies examination teams; manage information requests during examination cycles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree (MBA, MS or equivalent) preferred.
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in data analytics, regulatory reporting, or financial reporting within a bank, financial institution, or regulatory agency.
- Direct, hands-on experience in preparing and managing regulatory reporting requirements for regulatory agencies.
- 2+ years of people management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain analytical talent.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL; experience with Python preferred. Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of banking products, credit risk, and financial instruments as they relate to regulatory classification and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical rigor, and ability to manage multiple high-priority deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting complex data issues to non-technical audiences and regulators.
- Experience working in Databricks for building data pipelines, performing SQL/Python-based analytics and modeling, and supporting scalable, governed data and ML workflows using Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and enterprise data warehouses in a financial services context.
- Hands-on experience applying AI/ML techniques (e.g., gradient boosting, time-series models, NLP) to credit analytics or regulatory reporting use cases; familiarity with MLflow, Databricks AutoML, or similar model lifecycle management tools is a plus.
- Experience with AI-enabled data governance tools (e.g., automated data quality frameworks, intelligent cataloging, or policy enforcement engines) and familiarity with model risk management (SR 11-7) requirements in a banking context.
- CPA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent professional designation a plus.
