Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AVD Virtualization Engineer to support the engineering, implementation, optimization, and administration of a large-scale Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) platform. This role will support an enterprise environment of approximately 12,000 virtual desktops and requires strong hands-on engineering experience with enterprise-scale AVD implementations. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on execution with engineering-level problem-solving and contribute to platform enhancements, performance improvements, and scaling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement solution designs for AVD environments as created by architects and technical leads.
• Contribute to platform optimization, performance improvements, and scaling efforts.
• Design, build, scale, and improve virtualization solutions.
• Deploy, configure, and support AVD host pools, session hosts, application groups, and workspaces.
• Perform day-to-day platform administration, including scaling, host maintenance, and health checks.
• Support gold image creation and maintenance using existing image pipelines and Shared Image Gallery.
• Manage and troubleshoot FSLogix profile containers, including configuration and storage issues.
• Monitor AVD health, performance, and capacity using Azure monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment.
• Provide recommendations for improving platform performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience supporting Windows desktops and virtualization platforms.
• Strong engineering experience with large-scale, enterprise Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementations.
• End-to-end AVD engineering experience, including implementation, configuration, optimization, and support.
• Hands-on experience with AVD or comparable virtual desktop technologies.
• Working knowledge of Azure fundamentals, including compute, networking, and storage.
• Strong hands-on experience with FSLogix profile management and troubleshooting.
• Basic experience with automation tools such as PowerShell or Terraform.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale virtualization environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Nerdio for AVD automation and management.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and/or Group Policy.
• Familiarity with Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, and MFA concepts.
• Experience working in financial services or similarly regulated, high-urgency environments.
Location
• Hybrid position with options to work onsite in Wayne, PA or Plano, TX.
• In-office presence is expected Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
