Automation Team Leader

Job Description

We are looking to fill a future vacancy for an Automation Team Leader to join our team in Brantford, Ontario at our Greater Toronto Fulfillment Centre (GTFC). This is an on-shift role which may require early morning, evening, and overnight shift work.

We are seeking individuals with the following qualities:

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment managing technicians and equipment


Automation Team Leaders are responsible for:
  • All results on their Shift automated warehouse processing area
  • Lead a team of equipment owners and develop systems to eliminate losses and create sustainable results
  • Build long-term capability in their area, systems, and technicians and implement daily systems that enable us to produce the highest quality products.


You daily work could encompass any of the following:
  • Managing, coaching, and building capabilities in the line/processing area technicians
  • Identifying, prioritizing, analyzing, and eliminating line losses and inefficiencies
  • Delivery and start-up of new equipment, initiatives, and projects
  • Collaborating with technical experts, other functions, and other manufacturing sites to create the best solutions
  • Creating and improving standards and systems to help us achieve the performance targets for the production line or processing area


As an Automation Team Leader you will learn the required technical automated warehouse skills, develop general leadership skills, and leverage digital analytics. You will be part of the automated area triad and support the continuous improvement cycle for the line, including owning daily direction setting and run to target as part of the execution.

Responsibilities
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Understand and drive the proper execution of the HS&E and Quality foundations.
  • Own and manage a DMS for the Line.
  • Act as a coach for the EO to drive progress, perfect execution of the SWP and improvement of the standards.
  • Propose and implement solutions that streamline processes, eliminate failures, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Facilitate the integration of new digital tools and technologies within your team.
  • Provide training and support to team members on the effective use of digital solutions to ensure widespread adoption.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of digital systems and processes.


Success Criteria:
  • Onboarding training completed within 6 months.
  • Delivery of Analyses and Models transforming business outcomes with penetrating insights.
  • Business decision impact - driving new insights, resource/time/cost optimization, etc.
  • No impact on Safety and Quality


Work Hours:

Able to work 12-hour shifts, schedule bi-weekly rotation schedule. Shifts are assigned depending on business need. We cannot guarantee your preference of shift is what you will be assigned. Day shift is 6:00am-6:30pm and night shift 6:00pm-6:30am.

Flexibility: You may work rotating shifts with your team.

Overtime: Overtime may be required on weekends and/or holidays.

  • Minimum of a high school diploma and 2+ years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, warehouse or like industry managing people
  • Good leadership, communication, and coaching skills. Ability to set standards, role model, coach, teach, and set technical direction.
  • Teamwork/ Collaboration: Ability to work across disciplines and departments to build consensus and align technical directions. Experience using a variety of influencing skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift, lower, carry, push & pull objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time. Surface: Concrete, gravel, asphalt (uneven surfaces), and equipment.
  • Twist bend at the knees, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and reach.
  • The ability to meet the requirements of safe operation and personal safety, including wearing PPE and the ability to respond appropriately to various visual and audible alarms and signals
  • Operate a computer and keyboard to input and access data, and phone as well as scanners and electronic interfaces.
  • The ability to enter and work in enclosed areas.
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures both hot and cold, generally in warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust and dirt.
  • Learn/Know terminology and functions of machine components.
  • Meet the requirements of Quality/Good Manufacturing Practices/Good Lab Practices, following applicable gowning/de-gowning when working in the lab.
  • Ability to position & move cases of product, bottles, connect hoses, handle glass flasks and bottles, etc. (may include grasping)
  • Work around strong odor of perfume or wear the appropriate PPE to eliminate the odor.

Vous ferez partie de la triade de la zone automatisée et soutiendrez le cycle d'amélioration continue de la ligne, y compris en étant responsable de la définition de la direction quotidienne et de l'exécution pour atteindre les objectifs.

Responsabilités
  • Conduire l'Excellence Opérationnelle : Comprendre et assurer la bonne exécution des fondations SST et Qualité.
  • Posséder et gérer un DMS pour la ligne.
  • Agir en tant que coach pour l'EO afin de promouvoir le progrès, l'exécution parfaite du SWP et l'amélioration des standards.
  • Proposer et mettre en œuvre des solutions qui rationalisent les processus, éliminent les échecs et réduisent l'intervention manuelle.
  • Faciliter l'intégration de nouveaux outils et technologies numériques au sein de votre équipe.
  • Fournir de la formation et du soutien aux membres de l'équipe sur l'utilisation efficace des solutions numériques afin d'assurer leur adoption généralisée.
  • Diriger des initiatives visant à améliorer l'efficacité et l'efficience des systèmes et processus numériques.
