Job Summary
The Automation QA (Mainframe) Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing test strategies and test plans, leading testing activities across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and ensuring the quality of mainframe applications. This role requires experience with mainframe testing, automation tools, and collaboration with business and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Software Test Strategies and Test Plans aligned with project requirements, technical specifications, and business objectives.
• Lead all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including test planning, test case development, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Mentor and guide testing teams, promoting best practices in testing methodologies, tools, and automation.
• Coordinate and facilitate daily and weekly testing status meetings with internal teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
• Communicate testing progress, issues, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
• Utilize mainframe technologies such as CICS, MVS Batch using JCL, TSO, ISPF, and DB2 within a z/OS environment to execute and validate testing activities.
• Use Jenkins, IDz, and GitLab to execute and compare test suites for complex projects.
Required Qualifications
• Experience developing Software Test Strategies and Test Plans.
• Experience leading testing activities across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with test planning, test case development, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Experience mentoring testing teams and driving testing best practices.
• Working knowledge of:
• CICS
• MVS Batch Testing using JCL
• TSO
• ISPF
• DB2
• z/OS environment
• Experience using Jenkins, IDz, and GitLab.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with test automation practices in mainframe environments.
• Experience working with business stakeholders and third-party vendors.
