The Opportunity:
The Automation Field Trainer is part of the Solutions Training Team within Training & Development. They partner with the Roche Support Network, Marketing, and Sales management to identify key accounts and provide targeted training to laboratory staff before go-live on new automation instruments and ongoing customer training as needed. The primary duties include acting as the field training subject matter expert for Roche product portfolios across various domains, creating training plans for new and current customers, and offering complex training support for commercial pre-sales, project management, implementation, and execution of Roche solutions. Specialized advanced knowledge and specific training and certification are required, along with the ability to independently analyze customer needs and resolve issues. The position involves substantial variety and complexity, requiring originality and ingenuity. The role includes regular travel within the US, some international travel, and maintaining consistent attendance. It also emphasizes continuous improvement of the quality system and achieving quality objectives.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Tailored Customer Training: Conducts personalized training for all Roche solutions, training key operators on equipment, applications, IT products, and systems, including on-site training and re-training. Supports pre and post-training needs during product installation, implementation, and maintenance to ensure customer satisfaction and effective use of solutions.
Subject Matter Expertise: Acts as the training liaison and technical expert on all consultative, administrative, and technical matters. Uses scientific expertise to resolve complex customer issues and supports commercial staff and customers in pre and post-sales activities.
Curriculum Development: Collaborates with leadership to develop educational goals and technical specifications for content, ensuring materials are business-focused and meet technical training needs. Partners with account managers, field teams, and management to build comprehensive curricula addressing both short-term and long-term objectives.
Training Design and Feedback: Designs training activities, gathers feedback from customers and field teams, and contributes to content improvement. Actively participates in marketing and product development initiatives, ensuring customer experiences are incorporated into training materials.
Operational Standards and Support: Maintains training standards consistent with those Training & Development in Indianapolis, executes standardized training when not on-site, and shares best practices. Manages inventory, company property, and expenses, ensures timely documentation of service reports, and identifies opportunities for promoting Roche solutions and competitive consolidations.
Who you are:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent education and work experience
5 years of progressive experience within the diagnostics industry or other relevant progressive experience
Advanced knowledge in an area of specialty as demonstrated through an advanced degree and/or in-depth technical experience in the support of laboratory clinical chemistry, immunology, information technology, molecular, tissue, and/or automation systems
Location & Travel: Up to 75% overnight travel required. Preferred candidate locations include Denver, Seattle, the Bay Area, or Salt Lake City. Qualified candidates living elsewhere in the United States will be considered if they are located within 50 miles of a major airport.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pre-analytical, post-analytical, and analytical chemistry and immunology platforms, including cobas 8100, cobas p512/p612, and/or cobas p501/p701.
Additional Information:
Field/Flexible Work Environment Position (FWE) with planned/unplanned travel required within NAM (US and Canada) Some international travel may also be required.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this highly responsible position.
Relocation benefits are not provided with this position.

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Indiana is $94,100.00 - 174,700.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
