Responsibilities

  • Interface with vendors and system integrators to design automated order fulfillment solutions.

  • Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering processes and technology.
  • Optimize layouts, material flows, and automation equipment in Distribution Centers.
  • Support business case justifications for new technology and process enhancements.

Automation Engineer

The Automation Engineer brings technical experience in implementing and improving Automated Material Handling Systems and Technology within the fulfillment network. This role works closely with functional stakeholders, vendors, and other engineers to solve problems and reduce fulfillment costs.

You will ...
  • Interface with external vendors and system integrators to design automated order fulfillment solutions. Work with top industry technology such as AMRs, Robotics, ASRS, sortation systems, etc.
  • Take the lead on designing distribution facilities, including new facilities, facility retrofits, conveyor changes, and other material handling equipment (MHE) changes.
  • Identify, define and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to ensure their business needs are met by new system designs.
  • Become a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all engineering processes and technology within the fulfillment network.
  • Optimize Distribution Center layouts, material flows, Automation equipment, etc.
  • Support business case justification for new technology, CapEx purchases and process enhancements.
  • Leverage GenAI to automate time consuming tasks and improve internal processes.

  • Able to travel up to 25%, peaking up to 50% during project implementations.
You have...
  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar field required.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in multi-site industrial distribution, manufacturing, or processing environments.
  • AutoCAD proficiency required
  • Experience scoping and/or implementing automated equipment to reduce labor, error rate, and/or process inefficiencies.
  • Experience with using Warehouse Control Systems (WCS/WES) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Experience with Warehouse Conveyance (Right Angle Transfers, MDR, Sortation, Spirals, etc.) including working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an ability to understand how equipment and systems operate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professional attitude, and approach (and the ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization, up and down).
