This posting will be used to fill two (2) permanent full-time positions working 75 hours bi-weekly. the program area may consider alternative options such as terms and part-time hours. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Your role

Reporting to the Manager of Hearing Services, you will deliver professional audiological services to Yukon residents. You will be responsible for performing adult and pediatric diagnostic hearing assessments, selecting and dispensing hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, public education, and providing in-services to healthcare professionals.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. • Master's Degree in Audiology from a Canadian university, or an equivalent degree from a recognized international program;
• Current ACSLPA registration, or eligibility to register;
• Recent experience in conducting full diagnostic audiometric assessments and clinical interpretation for adult and/or pediatric populations;
• Experience in completing hearing aid consultation and fittings is an asset;
• Experience with specialized testing, such as: auditory brainstem response testing, tinnitus measurement and management, vestibular assessments, and central auditory screening will be considered an asset.

New graduates who have obtained their conditional registration with a recognized Canadian regulatory college of audiology, but who have limited field experience, may be considered as an underfill.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

• A copy of your Master's Degree in Audiology or Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) from a recognized university;
• Current full registration with ACSLPA, or current full registration with a recognized Canadian audiological association, with registration to ACSLPA within 3 months of hire. A successful candidate on conditional registration without current/full registration will be considered as an underfill and must obtain full ACSLPA registration within 6 months of hire
• Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector;
• TB screening;
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent;
• WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire).

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

• This position works in an office environment with critical deadlines and constant interruptions. The office can be noisy and congested with people coming and going from time to time. The work area is open and interruptions are common.
• The incumbent is exposed to VDT from the computer (70%).
• Periodic travel to Yukon communities: this position may travel within the territory. The average number of trips annually is 2, and the average length per trip can be up to 1 week. Hearing Services is aiming to increase the frequencies of the remote clinic visits to Watson Lake and Dawson City.
• This position works closely with children (newborns included) to older adults.
