AV Supervisor, NYC

Convene is seeking an experienced and dynamic AV Supervisor to join our Operations team at our Quorum by Convene location at 1221 Avenue of the Americas. This is an exciting full-time opportunity to play a key role at one of Convene's flagship event venues. The AV Supervisor will report directly to the property's Senior Technology Manager and work closely with the General Manager and Regional AV Manager to support the venue's day-to-day operations and AV strategy.

What You'll Do:

The AV Technology Supervisor effectively oversees the setup, strike and execution of program details provided by the Technology Manager. We need someone that is self-motivated and organized, as well as an effective communicator. As an AV Technology Supervisor, you will work closely with customers to deliver an excellent meeting, conference, and working experience.
  • Effectively delegate instructions to all technology team members and temporary staff on site
  • Responsible for proper equipment maintenance, inventory, and storage
  • Ensure completion of assigned tasks to technology specialists and labor vendors
  • Determine labor and equipment needs along with scheduling on a weekly basis
  • Maintain a constant line of communications with onsite and regional leadership
  • Accurately perform daily, weekly, and monthly check lists
  • Maintain a positive relationship with clients and staff through effective communication
  • Present a professional image that meets company dress codes
  • Possess an in depth knowledge of all facility technologies, equipment, and SOPs
  • Able to accommodate a rotating work schedule that includes nights, weekends, and occasional long hours
  • Provide ad-hoc troubleshooting and assistance to customers of all technology competency levels
  • Preprogram coordination with clients and internal stakeholders ensuring that all client technological needs are met and in place for their arrival
  • Provide a consultative approach to onsite technology enhancements for client programs
  • Assist in any areas of daily operation


Responsible for Training & Development:
  • Cross-train in other conference center related areas
  • Assist with developing healthy employee relations climate, including employee motivation and coaching
  • Participate in collaborative project efforts with both the technology team and other departments
  • Mentor Technology Specialists to provide a consistent level of customer service
  • Interview and make hiring recommendations for all positions in the department using targeted selection
  • Stay current on industry trends in special events/meetings through benchmarking, trade publications, competitive shopping, and special event conferences
  • Review all departmental SOPs on a quarterly basis and update as needed

What We Look For:
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required including weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, set/strike equipment up to 50 lbs. without additional assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
    Equipment & Technical Qualifications
  • Audio: 4-24 channel analog/digital mixers, wireless microphone lavaliers and handhelds, push to talk microphone systems, audio recorders, Biamp Tesira systems
  • Video: Switchers, projectors, LCD displays, LED Video Walls, Crestron DM/NVX systems
  • Lighting: Up lights, GOBOs, Basic dimming
  • IT: Wi-Fi troubleshooting, connecting hardline internet, Knowledge of DHCP/Static IP addressing, operate and troubleshoot hard/soft video codecs
  • Control: Familiarity with Crestron control systems and associated hardware

Base Salary:

Salary Min: $80,000 Salary Max: $90,000

This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
