Tax, Estate Planning & Business Attorney with a strong foundation in taxation and a client-focused approach to helping individuals, families, business owners, and closely held businesses navigate sophisticated tax, financial, and planning matters.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong attorney who enjoys analyzing complex tax issues, developing practical strategies, and building long-term relationships with clients and their professional advisors. A strong background in
federal taxation, tax planning, and business-related tax matters is central to this role, with experience in estate and gift tax planning, wealth transfer strategies, estate planning, or probate matters highly valued.
We are particularly interested in an attorney who wants to continue developing a sophisticated tax and private-client practice while learning from highly experienced counsel and gaining exposure to established, long-standing client relationships.

Your Role and ContributionAs a valued member of our legal team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and business owners on a broad range of tax, financial, estate planning, and business matters.
You will work closely with experienced counsel while collaborating with attorneys and other professional advisors to develop comprehensive solutions tailored to each client's financial, family, and business objectives.
Your expertise will help clients navigate complex tax laws, minimize tax exposure, preserve and transfer wealth, structure business and financial decisions, and plan strategically for the future.
As your knowledge of the practice and its clients develops, you will have the opportunity to assume increasing responsibility for sophisticated matters and established client relationships while continuing to expand your technical expertise and professional practice.
Key Responsibilities- Advise individuals, families, businesses, and business owners regarding federal, state, and local tax matters.
- Counsel clients regarding sophisticated tax planning strategies and the tax implications of significant business, financial, and personal decisions.
- Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters and related wealth-transfer strategies.
- Counsel closely held businesses and their owners regarding tax-sensitive business planning, entity structuring, ownership transitions, and succession considerations.
- Analyze the tax implications of business transactions, asset transfers, real estate transactions, and other significant financial matters.
- Draft and review sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related planning instruments, as applicable.
- Advise clients regarding the integration of tax planning, estate planning, business interests, and long-term wealth preservation strategies.
- Assist with probate, trust, and estate administration matters when needed, including matters involving significant tax considerations.
- Assist clients with federal, state, and local tax controversies, audits, examinations, assessments, and related matters.
- Communicate with the IRS, Ohio Department of Taxation, and other taxing authorities as appropriate.
- Conduct sophisticated legal and tax research and provide clear, practical guidance regarding complex tax and planning issues.
- Review tax returns, financial statements, business agreements, estate planning documents, and other financial information to identify tax considerations and planning opportunities.
- Collaborate with CPAs, accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals to provide comprehensive client solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional communication, responsiveness, and trusted legal counsel.
- Participate in business development and community engagement initiatives that support the firm's continued growth.
Requirements- Active Ohio Bar License in good standing.
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with meaningful experience practicing tax law.
- Strong knowledge of federal taxation and experience analyzing sophisticated tax issues.
- Experience with business taxation, tax planning, estate and gift taxation, or other complex tax matters.
- Experience advising individuals, families, closely held businesses, business owners, or high-net-worth clients is strongly preferred.
- Experience with sophisticated estate planning, wealth-transfer planning, trusts, or probate and estate administration is highly valued.
- Strong financial acumen and comfort reviewing tax returns, financial statements, business documents, and other financial information.
- Excellent analytical, legal research, writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to understand complex financial, tax, business, and family circumstances and translate them into practical legal strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters while providing exceptional client service.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to develop long-term client relationships and contribute to the firm's continued growth.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary legal team.
- An LL.M. in Taxation, CPA designation, advanced tax experience, or specialized tax credentials are strongly preferred but not required.
