Attorney - Local Government Law in Durham, NC This is a unique opportunity to practice true Local Government Law. We're looking for an attorney who understands the inner workings of cities, counties, and municipalities and is ready to make a meaningful impact in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications - Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member of the North Carolina State Bar
- Five or more years of experience practicing Local Government Law in North Carolina
- Strong understanding of municipal operations, FOIA, zoning, procurement, governance, and public meetings
- Existing relationships or experience with municipalities in the area is a plus
Your Role - Advise local governments on legal matters including governance, contracts, land use, and public meetings
- Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions
- Represent localities in administrative and legal proceedings
- Stay current on legal developments affecting municipal clients
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices to deliver integrated legal services
