Recruitment Range: $76,041 - $90,322

The person filling this position will be assigned to the Special Prosecutions and Law Enforcement Section of the North Carolina Department of Justice and physically located at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Edneyville, NC. The person will be responsible for coordinating - and instructing in - advanced and specialized criminal justice training curricula. This person will instruct Law Enforcement Officers on a variety of legal topics including search and seizure and civil liability. This person will also be responsible for reviewing materials created by other academy instructors, most of whom are not attorneys for legal accuracy and clarity. Additionally this person will be responsible for creating and revising legal lesson plans to be delivered to law enforcement statewide. The person will be expected to take on special projects as needed to assist the Academy and the Department of Justice. Finally, the person will be be assigned to the criminal brief rotation of the North Carolina Department of Justice.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

* Knowledge of case, statutory, regulatory, and common law.

* Experience with instructing and teaching law enforcement.

Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar and one year of professional legal experience. NOTE: GS 114-2 and 114-6 make it the duty of the Attorney General of NC to represent the State of North Carolina in all litigation unless another statute specifically states otherwise.
