What you'll be doing...

Please note: This position is fully onsite and works a Tuesday to Saturday schedule. The role regularly supports multiple Victoria-area transit operating locations and works closely with operational leaders and front-line employees.

Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, you will provide centralized coordination and administrative support for BC Transit's Attendance Management Program within the Victoria Regional Transit System (VRTS). Your primary focus will be supporting Operations People Leaders and People and Culture in the consistent administration of the program and process.

You will monitor attendance information, maintain records, prepare reports, schedule and coordinate attendance management meetings, and support leaders in tracking employee participation and outcomes within the program.

A key component of the role will involve identifying trends and patterns in attendance information and translating that information into meaningful reports, dashboards, and recommendations that support operational decision-making.

You'll also support accommodation processes, coordinate documentation, assist with incident related documentation and investigations, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of attendance programs, processes, and practices.

What you might love about this role...

  • Work closely with Operations: Partner directly with leaders who support front-line employees.
  • Make an impact: Help ensure attendance programs are administered fairly, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Use your analytical skills: Monitor trends, prepare reports, and support operational decision-making.
  • Enjoy variety: Every day includes a mix of coordination, reporting, problem-solving, and employee support.
  • Be part of continuous improvement: Help identify opportunities to improve processes and programs.

What might not resonate...

  • This isn't a traditional Monday-to-Friday role. The position works a Tuesday to Saturday schedule and hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • This is a fully onsite position. You'll work directly with operational leaders and employees across transit locations.
  • Details matter. Accuracy, organization, and follow-through are critical to success in this role.

This role might not be for you if...
• You're looking for a remote or hybrid position.
• You're looking for a standard Monday-to-Friday schedule.
• You prefer strategic HR work over hands-on program coordination.
• You don't enjoy working with data, records, and process-driven work.

What you'll bring to the table...
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Analytical thinking and an interest in working with data and reports.
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and tracking tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
A customer-service mindset and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will typically have a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Disability Management, or a related field, along with three years of related experience in a fast-paced administrative environment. Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
