Full Job Description
What We're Looking For

As Datavant scales, Jira and the broader Atlassian ecosystem increasingly underpin how teams coordinate work, manage services, connect systems, and provide visibility across the organization. As our Atlassian Platform Architect, you will own the technical direction, architecture, health, and evolution of Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and the broader Atlassian ecosystem.

This is a senior, hands-on role combining enterprise architecture with deep technical delivery. You will define the target architecture, roadmap, governance, data and integration standards, while personally designing and implementing complex automations, integrations, workflows, reporting, and service management solutions.

You will lead platform remediation and transformation, reduce technical debt, and ensure the environment remains secure, resilient, scalable, and maintainable. You will also serve as the senior technical partner to our Jira administration team, setting the standards they work to and taking ownership of changes requiring deeper architecture or engineering expertise.

What You Will Do
  • Define and maintain the target architecture, technical strategy and prioritized roadmap for Jira, JSM, Confluence and the wider Atlassian ecosystem.
  • Establish enterprise standards for data models, workflows, schemes, fields, permissions, automation, integrations, reporting and naming conventions.
  • Take ownership of platform health and lead the remediation of configuration sprawl, technical debt, duplicate objects and inconsistent platform patterns.
  • Design and implement complex solutions using Jira Automation, Rovo, ScriptRunner, REST APIs, webhooks and Marketplace applications.
  • Define JSM and ITSM architecture supporting service requests, incidents, problems, changes, knowledge and asset management.
  • Establish integration standards covering APIs, identity systems, authentication, data ownership, monitoring, error handling and recovery.
  • Define security, privacy, availability, recoverability, performance, data-retention and audit requirements.
  • Introduce architecture reviews, change controls and lifecycle-management processes that protect the platform while supporting delivery.
  • Lead major platform remediation, consolidation, migration, redesign and integration initiatives.
  • Evaluate Marketplace applications and emerging Atlassian capabilities, including Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo, based on security, privacy, cost and maintainability.
  • Partner with IT, Security, Privacy, Compliance, Enterprise Systems, Product and Engineering to translate requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership to Jira administrators by reviewing complex changes, establishing reusable patterns, mentoring the team and taking ownership of high-risk work.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for architectural issues, significant platform risks and complex technical decisions.
  • Support licensing, application rationalization, vendor decisions and platform investment planning.

What You Need to Succeed
  • 6-8 years experience leading Jira and the Atlassian ecosystem within a large or complex organisation.
  • Deep hands-on Jira Cloud and JSM expertise across workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, automation, security and project configuration.
  • Strong technical experience with Forge, REST APIs, webhooks, workflow extensions and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience defining enterprise architecture, platform governance, configuration standards, technical roadmaps and reusable design patterns.
  • Experience designing JSM and ITSM solutions aligned with ITIL practices and an enterprise IT operating model.
  • Strong knowledge of Atlassian Cloud identity and security, including Atlassian Guard, SAML, SSO, SCIM, provisioning and access controls.
  • Direct experience working with both HIPAA and FedRAMP requirements and translating them into practical platform controls.
  • Experience assessing platform health and leading remediation, migration, consolidation or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience evaluating and governing Marketplace applications and other Atlassian extensions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to move confidently between strategy, technical design, hands-on delivery and team mentoring.
  • A willingness to take ownership of a challenging environment, make clear technical decisions and drive issues through to resolution.
