Normal Work Schedule (Other):: Work Time: Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)Hours/Week: 40.00 hrs. Shift/Work Schedule: 02 Hours will vary. On call.
Job Responsibilities- Under general supervision of the warden, the incumbent will assist in the daily planning and coordination of the institutional operations including security, administration and support for the institution.
- This includes Directors at SCDC Headquarters.
- Supervises security, custody, and control of inmates, counseling them as necessary.
- Serves as duty warden and in the capacity of the warden during his/her absence.
- Supervises the implementation and executing of laws, policies, rules and regulations, as well as operating procedures including OSHA regulations.
- Writes policies and procedures for a Level II institution.
- Prepares (writes) various reports, special studies and staff papers, including recommendations relating to proposed changes in policies, operating procedures, rules, regulations and laws.
- Supervises maintaining the sanitation of the institution, buildings, property etc.
- Other duties as required.

(803) 896-1649 [email protected] Minimum and Additional RequirementsState of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:- A high school diploma and ten (10) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, which must include five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
- A bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of overall experience.
- Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of overall experience.
- No substitutions for supervisory experience.
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
