JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Associate VP, DHIP - Strategic Partnerships & Network Growth reporting to the Vice President, Growth and Network Develolpment. The Associate Vice President (AVP), Strategic Partnerships and Network Growth is a senior strategic leader responsible for identifying, developing, negotiating, and executing growth initiatives that expand the health system's ambulatory footprint and strengthen physician alignment. This leader serves as the primary executive responsible for practice acquisitions, professional services agreements (PSAs), joint ventures, and other innovative affiliation models that advance the organization's strategic, clinical, and financial objectives.

Working collaboratively with physician leaders, hospital executives, legal counsel, finance, operational leadership, and external physician practices, the AVP leads complex transactions from initial strategy through implementation. The position requires exceptional relationship-building skills, business acumen, healthcare transaction expertise, and the ability to balance organizational priorities with physician and community needs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Growth & Business Development
  • Develop and execute strategies that support enterprise growth through physician practice alignment and ambulatory expansion.
  • Identify market opportunities based on strategic priorities, competitive dynamics, physician succession needs, and community healthcare demands.
  • Build and maintain relationships with independent physician groups, health systems, community leaders, and industry partners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to physician practice leaders regarding partnership opportunities and alignment models.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and recommend strategic approaches to executive leadership.

Practice Acquisitions
  • Lead the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of physician practice acquisitions.
  • Coordinate financial, operational, legal, compliance, and clinical due diligence.
  • Develop transaction structures that align physician incentives with organizational goals.
  • Prepare executive presentations, investment analyses, and Board materials.
  • Partner with integration teams to ensure seamless transition of acquired practices.

Joint Venture Development
  • Lead development of ambulatory joint ventures including ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, specialty hospitals, diagnostic facilities, and service line partnerships.
  • Structure governance, ownership, financial, and operational models.
  • Facilitate negotiations among physician owners, health system executives, and external partners.
  • Coordinate valuation analyses and regulatory reviews.
  • Manage transactions through definitive agreements and implementation.

Professional Services Agreements (PSAs) & Affiliation Models
  • Lead development and negotiation of Professional Services Agreements and other physician alignment arrangements.
  • Design affiliation models that achieve strategic objectives while preserving physician engagement and operational excellence.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, corporate practice of medicine requirements, FMV standards, and other applicable regulations.
  • Develop innovative partnership structures tailored to physician group needs.

Transaction Leadership
  • Serve as executive project leader for complex healthcare transactions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including: Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, Human Resources, Clinical Leadership.
  • Manage project timelines, risks, milestones, and executive communications.
  • Ensure timely execution from opportunity identification through operational implementation.

Financial & Strategic Analysis
  • Develop business cases and financial models supporting investment decisions.
  • Analyze physician compensation structures, productivity metrics, and practice financial performance.
  • Evaluate return on investment and long-term strategic value.
  • Monitor transaction performance against established objectives.

Executive Leadership
  • Present recommendations to senior executives, physician leadership, and governing boards.
  • Represent the organization during negotiations with physician groups and external partners.
  • Mentor junior business development professionals and contribute to development of growth strategies across the enterprise.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across hospitals, physician enterprise leadership, and operational teams.


JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Public Health, or related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, business development, physician enterprise, corporate development, consulting, or healthcare finance.
  • Significant experience leading physician practice acquisitions, joint ventures, PSAs, or similar healthcare transactions.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex agreements with physicians and healthcare organizations.
  • Experience developing executive-level business cases and financial analyses.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare partnership and physician alignment structures, including PSAs, joint ventures, ASCs, and management services arrangements.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and compliance considerations governing healthcare transactions, including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback statute implications.
  • Strong financial acumen, including business case development, financial modeling, and capital planning.
  • Proven negotiation, contracting, and transaction execution skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing priorities.
  • Executive-level communication, influence, and relationship management skills, particularly with physicians and senior leaders.
  • Strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and sound business judgment.
