Associate Vice Provost, Business Services

Miami Dade College is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Associate Vice Provost, Business Services to provide strategic leadership and oversight for critical college-wide business operations. This executive leadership position oversees a diverse portfolio that includes purchasing, risk management, auxiliary services, property and asset management, and real estate, with a strong focus on operational excellence, fiscal stewardship, compliance, innovation, and revenue optimization.

The Associate Vice Provost serves as a key business partner to College leadership, developing strategies and operational practices that protect institutional assets, enhance services, strengthen financial performance, and support the College's long-term goals.

In this leadership role, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction for College-wide business and auxiliary services, driving innovation, operational efficiency, service quality, and revenue generation.
  • Lead risk management, safety, loss control, insurance, and asset protection programs.
  • Oversee auxiliary operations and vendor relationships for bookstore, food service, vending, and other revenue-generating services.
  • Provide leadership for procurement and property/asset management, ensuring sound business practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and conduct cost, revenue, productivity, and financial analyses to improve fiscal and operational performance.
  • Establish effective organizational structures, workflows, staffing models, policies, and procedures that support College priorities.
  • Recruit, develop, supervise, and evaluate professional staff across business and auxiliary service operations.
  • Partner with the Vice Provost and Chief Financial Officer in developing long-range financial plans for operating and capital resources.
  • Represent Business Affairs on College committees and workgroups, providing expertise in financial management, procurement, risk management, real estate, property management, and auxiliary operations.
  • Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, governmental agencies, and other external partners.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and results-oriented leader with demonstrated expertise in complex business operations. Competitive candidates will bring strong knowledge of fiscal management, procurement, contract administration, vendor management, risk and loss management, property and asset protection, auxiliary services, and regulatory compliance.

This role requires the ability to analyze complex financial and operational challenges, develop innovative solutions, re-engineer processes, establish priorities, formulate policies, and translate institutional strategy into effective business practices. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, staff development, and executive-level decision-making skills are essential.

Candidates must possess one of the following combinations of education and experience:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or a related field and seven (7) years of management experience in budgeting, financial management, risk management, auxiliary services, or a related administrative area; OR Bachelor's degree and eleven (11) years of progressive management experience in the respective fields. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • The position also requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends and to travel between College campuses.
