The Associate Vice President, Physician Operations Support serves as a trusted strategic advisor and execution partner to the Chief Physician Officers (CPO) in Illinois and Wisconsin. This role is responsible for translating strategic clinician and service line priorities into actionable plans, leading high-priority initiatives, driving organizational accountability, and supporting executive decision-making. Working across physician and APP leadership, service lines, operations, finance, human resources, and other enterprise functions, facilitates alignment, coordination, and execution of strategic initiatives that advance organizational goals. The role serves as a key liaison among stakeholders, supports governance structures, develops executive communications, and ensures successful implementation of enterprise clinician strategies and service line priorities.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Execution - Translates enterprise physician and service line priorities into actionable work plans and execution strategies that align with organizational objectives. Monitors progress toward goals, identifies risks and dependencies, and drives accountability for successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Program & Project Leadership - Leads high-priority initiatives on behalf of the Chief Physician Officer, establishing project plans, governance structures, timelines, and accountability mechanisms. Coordinates cross-functional teams and resources to ensure successful implementation and completion of strategic organizational priorities.
  • Decision Support & Analytics - Provides executive decision support through analysis of operational, workforce, financial, and performance data, translating complex information into actionable insights. Develops executive presentations, business cases, briefing materials, and recommendations that inform strategic planning and organizational decisions.
  • Physician & Service Line Coordination - Facilitates collaboration among physician and APP leaders, service line executives, operational leaders, and enterprise partners to ensure alignment on key priorities. Coordinates communication, planning, and implementation of physician enterprise initiatives, including governance, workforce, compensation, and operating model strategies.
  • Executive Communications - Develops executive communications, presentations, reports, and leadership materials that support organizational priorities and decision-making. Coordinates leadership meetings, prepares briefing documents and follow-up actions, and ensures consistent messaging to support change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Governance & Accountability - Supports governance structures, committees, councils, and executive workgroups by facilitating effective decision-making and organizational alignment. Tracks strategic action items, executive decisions, and key deliverables while providing regular reporting on progress, outcomes, and accountability measures.
  • Process Improvement & Organizational Development - Identifies opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness through enhanced processes, workflows, operating models, and performance practices. Leads or supports change management and transformation initiatives that strengthen execution capabilities and advance Physician Enterprise objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Finance, or related field required.


Experience Required:
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive leadership, consulting, healthcare operations, physician enterprise, strategy, project management, or related experience. Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing executive leaders. Experience operating within large, matrixed healthcare organizations.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and strategic execution across complex organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Primarily works in a standard office environment with the ability to work remotely as business needs permit.
  • Frequently participates in meetings with executive leaders and stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • May require occasional travel to Advocate Health facilities and meetings.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Preferred Job Requirements:

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant leadership or project management certification preferred.


Education Required:
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related discipline) preferred.


Experience Required:
  • Experience supporting C-suite healthcare executives.
  • Experience within physician enterprises, medical groups, academic medical centers, or integrated healthcare delivery systems.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide change management, workforce, governance, or service line initiatives.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Advanced knowledge of physician compensation, workforce strategy, governance, and service line operations.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry trends and physician enterprise strategy.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations and board materials.
