Your Role at Vizient: As the Associate Vice President, Market & Client Research you will lead Vizient's market and client research capability within the Office of Strategy Management (OSM) Strategic Market Research & Industry Insights (SMRII) function and personally deliver the function's highest-priority research. You will establish the research agenda and lead the design, execution, synthesis, and communication of secondary research along with targeted primary and quantitative studies, on healthcare markets, client needs, market drivers, demand, emerging opportunities, and strategic uncertainties. Drawing on your broad knowledge of the healthcare industry, you will connect economic, policy, provider, payer, life sciences, workforce, technology, market-structure, and client signals into a coherent market perspective and personally author or quality-assure major deliverables, including the Vizient Market Outlook (VMO), Environmental Assessment, strategic briefs, and client-needs updates. You will serve as a senior market research authority, translating evidence into clear implications for strategic decisions and decision-ready deliverables. What You'll Be Doing:
  • Own and personally deliver the market research fact base, market-driver framework, and integrated market perspective underlying major research deliverables, including the Vizient Market Outlook (VMO), Environmental Assessment, and 3-5+ annual strategic briefs. Translate evidence into key trends, strategic questions, trade-offs, risks, and decision implications.
  • Ensure the strategic market perspective is grounded in rigorous research, informed by Vizient's subject matter experts and aligned with other research functions across the organization.
  • Lead the end-to-end design, execution, synthesis, and communication of primary and secondary research on healthcare markets, client needs, market drivers, demand, adoption, emerging opportunities, and strategic uncertainties, personally delivering the highest-priority studies, while collaborating across the organization.
  • Lead strategy-driven client research in partnership with Marketing Insights and Product where necessary to understand the evolution and prioritization of client needs, identify unmet needs, and assess willingness to adopt.
  • Integrate relevant trends and findings into a coherent healthcare market perspective, in partnership with appropriate leaders across the business.
  • Lead research readouts and decision-support sessions that help leaders interpret findings, test assumptions, reconcile qualitative and quantitative evidence, and determine next actions. Provide the research foundation for integrated opportunity assessments and lead the research inputs to environmental scenario planning.
  • Build the research delivery capability by establishing research-quality standards, methodology and source-evaluation protocols, documentation practices and AI-enabled research workflows.
Your Location: The role is located at our corporate headquarters in Irving, TX or our facilities in Chicago, IL or Centennial, CO. What You'll Bring:
  • Relevant degree preferred; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years relevant experience required.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry and its stakeholders, including provider and payer dynamics, reimbursement and policy, life sciences, workforce, care delivery, technology, market structure, healthcare economics, and client needs; demonstrated ability to connect these signals into a coherent market perspective.
  • Significant experience leading and directly delivering primary and secondary market research, healthcare industry research, including authoring or substantially contributing to enterprise-level market perspectives, Environmental Assessments, strategic briefs, or comparable deliverables.
  • Advanced knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, including research design, sampling, interviews, surveys, segmentation, regression or other multivariate methods, and working knowledge of databases and data structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic questions into researchable questions and carry research from methodology selection through evidence evaluation, synthesis, and delivery, while identifying bias, confounding, limitations, and data-quality issues.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse internal and external analyses, client signals, and research findings into clear implications for enterprise and business-unit strategy, solution development, planning, investment, and integrated opportunity assessments.
  • Desire to operate as a hands-on player-coach who personally delivers high-priority research, builds team capability, manages capacity, establishes trust with leaders, and facilitates evidence-based decisions.
  • Experience using AI-enabled research tools and workflows to improve environmental scanning, secondary research, evidence synthesis, knowledge management, and deliverable development, with the judgment to validate and audit AI-generated sources, methods, analyses, calculations, and conclusions.
  • Advanced written, verbal, facilitation, and executive-presentation skills, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00. This position is also incentive eligible. Vizient has a comprehensive benefits plan!
