Job Description SummaryDepartment Summary Ohio University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President for Auxiliaries within the Division of Student Life. Reporting to the Interim Vice President for Student Life, the Associate Vice President provides strategic leadership for an auxiliary portfolio that includes Culinary Services and Housing and Residence Life.
Key Responsibilities:This senior leader will guide complex, self-supporting operations that play an essential role in the daily experience of students, employees, campus visitors, and community members. The Associate Vice President will establish and communicate departmental goals, implement effective business systems and practices, cultivate an entrepreneurial and customer-focused environment, and promote a culture centered on student success, safety, service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The position also provides strategic direction for long-range capital planning, preventive maintenance, facilities renewal and renovation, security, program development, and evolving product and service offerings. Working closely with professional leadership staff and university partners, the Associate Vice President will identify new business opportunities, establish appropriate service levels, address compliance matters in collaboration with campus partners, and ensure continuity of operations.

Culinary Services Culinary Services is a $57 million dining, catering, retail, and culinary production enterprise serving Ohio University. The operation includes dining commons, food courts, retail markets, coffee shops, catering venues, a full-service restaurant, food trucks, and an extensive culinary production and distribution network. With more than 70 administrative employees, 188 bargaining-unit staff, and approximately 1,500 student employees, the department requires strategic leadership across financial management, operations, retail, catering, logistics, workforce development, customer experience, and business growth initiatives.
Housing and Residence Life Housing and Residence Life oversees a $59 million housing and residential education enterprise that supports approximately 8,000 students across 36 residence halls. The department is among the university's largest and most complex operations, employing more than 400 full-time, part-time, graduate, and student staff members.

Associate Vice President for Auxiliaries Search | Ohio UniversityPosition Profile Responsible for auxiliary functions within Student Affairs, including Housing, Culinary, and Retail operations. Provides strategic direction to enhance operational efficiency, drive revenue growth, and promote financial sustainability.
Level Summary Responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of complex functional areas or multiple departments. Formulates policies, strategies, and systems that enhance the University's position in the competitive marketplace. Leads large, complex teams, possibly managing multiple layers of managers. Contributes to shaping the long-term strategic vision of the University, ensuring alignment with overarching goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities Manages entire business units or divisions. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities Oversees multi-million dollar budget.
Problem Solving Solves highly complex, University-wide problems with long-term consequences.
Independence of Action Full autonomy in decision-making, accountable for business outcomes.

Physical Requirements Work is primarily performed in an office and meeting environment. The position will require travel to meetings and events.
Minimum Qualifications - A master's degree in business administration, higher education administration, hospitality management, finance, public administration, facilities management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in auxiliary services, higher education administration, hospitality, housing, dining, retail, conference services, facilities, or another comparably complex operational environment.
- A bachelor's degree and an additional two years of progressively responsible leadership experience beyond the experience requirement listed above may also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience managing significant budgets, revenue-producing operations, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience leading strategic planning, operational improvement, financial stewardship, and organizational change.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - An advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Senior-level leadership experience within higher education or a similarly complex, mission-driven organization.
- Experience overseeing multiple auxiliary or enterprise operations.
- Experience with capital planning, facilities renewal, construction, renovation, or preventive maintenance.
- Experience working in a collective-bargaining environment.
- Demonstrated success developing new programs, services, partnerships, or revenue opportunities.
- Experience using data, benchmarking, and performance measures to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with legal, compliance, safety, and risk-management considerations associated with large-scale auxiliary operations.
