Summary / ObjectiveThe Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research is responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of institutional data that supports evidence-based decision making, strategic planning, accreditation, assessment, compliance, continuous improvement, and student success. The AVC serves as the College's primary resource for institutional data, performance measurement, and decision support, by providing timely, accurate, and actionable information to executive leadership, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, while promoting a culture of data-informed decision making across the institution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Institutional Reporting and Compliance - Direct the preparation, validation, and submission of required institutional reports to federal, state, system, accrediting, and other external agencies, including the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, the Arkansas State University System, IPEDS, the ASU System Fact Book, the Voluntary Framework of Accountability (VFA), and other required reporting initiatives.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, consistency, and timeliness of institutional reporting while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, reporting standards, and institutional policies.
Institutional Research and Analytics - Direct and oversee the College's institutional research program using appropriate research methodologies, statistical techniques, and analytical tools.
- Analyze institutional, demographic, labor market, and higher education data; and communicate findings through reports, predictive analyses, dashboards, and data visualizations that support enrollment management, workforce development, student success, operational improvement, and strategic decision making.
- Conduct environmental scans, benchmarking studies, market analyses, surveys, and other research projects that inform institutional priorities and planning.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and Information Technology to improve the integration, accessibility, quality, and reporting of institutional data across enterprise systems, including Banner, Canvas, Starfish, Element451, Constituo, and other institutional technologies.
- Provide consultation regarding research design, survey development, statistical analysis, institutional metrics, and interpretation of data.
Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness - Support strategic planning and institutional effectiveness by developing key performance indicators, benchmarks, scorecards, and other measures of progress toward strategic and operational goals.
- Prepare executive reports, dashboards, and analyses, as needed, to support institutional planning, resource allocation, and decision making.
- Maintain processes that ensure current and historical institutional data are accurate, documented, accessible, and readily available.
Assessment and Academic Support - Coordinate institutional assessment processes and support systems measuring student learning, institutional effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs on program evaluation, curriculum development, new program approvals, state-mandated program reviews, accreditation, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Provide research and assessment expertise supporting continuous improvement of academic programs, student services, and institutional operations.
Data Governance and Decision Support - Promote data integrity, accountability, security, and evidence-based decision making throughout the College.
- Lead efforts to improve data quality, reporting processes, documentation, coding practices, and data governance standards.
- Serve on committees and cross-functional workgroups supporting data governance, information security, institutional effectiveness, and related best practices.
Professional Development and Other Duties - Maintain knowledge of emerging practices, technologies, regulations, and standards in institutional research, assessment, analytics, higher education reporting, and strategic planning.
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities and organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Technology and Research or the Chancellor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Master's degree in Educational Research, Statistics, Data Analytics, Higher Education, Public Administration, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or a compelling combination of relevant education and experience.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, institutional effectiveness, higher education assessment, data analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with enterprise student information systems (preferably Ellucian Banner), relational databases and SQL, and reporting, data visualization, and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Argos, Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, SAS, R, Python, or similar platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings effectively through reports, presentations, dashboards, and other visualizations.
- Knowledge of higher education reporting requirements, accreditation, assessment, institutional effectiveness, and data governance principles preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
