Full Job Description
The Role: Associate Veterinarian

This is more than just an associate veterinarian position - it's an invitation to grow into an integrative practitioner alongside a nationally recognized leader in the field, with access to therapies and mentorship you won't find anywhere else in the Bay Area.

You Will:

  • Conduct comprehensive medical exams, diagnose and manage a wide range of conditions, and build individualized treatment plans
  • Perform wellness visits, diagnostics, bloodwork, digital radiography, dentistry, and sedated procedures - keeping your general practice skills sharp and broad
  • Work alongside Dr. Gary Richter and a multidisciplinary team to explore integrative approaches - acupuncture, herbal therapy, physical rehabilitation, or another modality that speaks to your interests
  • Provide clients with treatment options and outcomes that go beyond what conventional Western care alone can offer
  • Deliver clear, compassionate client communication and education
  • Grow your skill set over time with direct mentorship - no certification required on day one, just genuine curiosity and a willingness to learn

You'll work alongside Dr. Gary Richter, a rehab-focused veterinarian, a part-time human physical therapist certified in veterinary rehabilitation, a part-time acupuncturist, and a part-time chiropractor - several with backgrounds in human healthcare and specialized veterinary training. Hiring here is shaped as much by cultural fit as clinical skill: we're a collaborative, low-drama, patient-first group, and that matters.

What You Bring:

  • A solid foundation as a general practitioner (roughly 1+ year internship, or ~2 years post-graduate experience preferred)
  • Genuine interest in integrative and holistic medicine - you don't need existing certification or experience, just curiosity and openness to learning

  • Confidence in your clinical decision-making, with a collaborative, team-first mindset
  • Bonus if you have: acupuncture, herbal medicine, or physical rehabilitation interest or experience
