Description

The Associate Technology and Innovation Consultant will manage the development and deployment of advanced processes, tools, and technology to drive the efficient delivery of projects. The Associate Technology and Innovation Consultant will manage initiative teams, project managers, business line managers, and division management throughout the evaluation of market and business trends, problem identification, solution creation, and implementation phases while adhering to budget constraints, design factors and client needs.
  • Manage initiative projects to document business process and identify ways to improve execution of projects and services to improve workflow and efficiencies.
  • Manage project execution solutions (including, software, hardware, code writing, automated processes etc.).
  • Approve proof of concept activities including detailed savings, benefits and automated process improvements.
  • Manage technology solutions to stakeholder successful adoption.
  • Manage the technology initiatives and improvement processes to ensure optimal utilization.
  • Quality review the implementation of processes and technology tools, and deploy new tools to improve efficiency and workflow improvements on client projects.
  • Quality review proposed technology implementation and innovative approaches to our services and client deliverables.
  • Present at tradeshows and conferences, emerging trends, markets and technologies. Responsible for identifying and developing, new and existing client and vendors.
  • Quality review technologically innovative products, solutions, and services to create new revenue streams and improve project profit margins.
  • Approve proposed business cases for large investments and initiatives to enter into a partnership. Quality review presentation and launch materials of new venture through Burns & McDonnell Launch program.
  • Responsible for client development and maintain vendor relationships, to evaluate integration of their solution(s) into business processes. Manage marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
  • Lead efforts with executive stakeholders and Global Practice leadership to build wholistic and cohesive solutions for clients.
  • Train and mentor staff.
  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Primary Accountabilities

The Associate Technology & Innovation Consultant is primarily accountable for:
  1. Regional innovation strategy deploymentExtend enterprise innovation priorities into the Upper Midwest region in a way that aligns with local business needs, project delivery priorities, and regional leadership objectives.
  2. Opportunity identification and prioritizationPartner with business leaders, project teams, and frontline contributors to identify high-value opportunities for innovation, automation, AI-enabled solutions, and process improvement.
  3. Innovation initiative execution supportHelp move prioritized ideas from discovery through validation, business case development, proof of concept, deployment support, and adoption tracking.
  4. Adoption and change enablementDrive practical understanding and usage of approved innovation tools and solutions through communication, training, use case sharing, and hands-on support.
  5. Governance and enterprise alignmentEnsure regional innovation activity aligns with enterprise standards for security, architecture, data governance, intellectual property, contractual requirements, budgeting, and risk management.

Decision Rights and Operating Model

This role operates through influence, facilitation, and enterprise alignment rather than direct operational authority over regional teams.

The Associate Technology and Innovation Consultant is expected to:
  • Recommend innovation priorities based on business value, feasibility, risk, and alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Escalate competing priorities, resource constraints, budget needs, or governance concerns to the appropriate leadership and enterprise decision-makers.
  • Coordinate with regional leadership and the Corporate Innovation Office to determine which initiatives advance, pause, require additional validation, or need formal sponsorship.
  • Support, but not independently approve, technology standards, security exceptions, enterprise architecture decisions, or major funding commitments unless authority is formally delegated.
  • Help define initiative ownership, success measures, implementation plans, and adoption expectations before work moves from concept to deployment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related degree from an accredited program. and 13 years of relevant experience, preferably in the consulting industry required or
  • Associate Degree and 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the consulting industry required or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 17 years of relevant experience, preferably in the consulting industry required.
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge and proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures for project and program management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentations skill with internal and external audiences of various sizes.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, CAD platforms, GIS, analysis programs, and data acquisition platforms.
  • Strong knowledge in computer logic and data analytics preferred.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability of advanced learning of new concepts and applying knowledge to deliverables.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

Compensation

$180,000.00-290,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
