Description

The Syndicated Loans and Mobilization Department is responsible for raising external funds for IFC's borrowers through the B Loan program, Parallel Loans, Credit Insurance Policies, the Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program, Debt Securities Syndications, and B bonds. Increasingly, the team is pursuing new syndication pathways, including securitization, capital markets, underwriting, and local currency solutions. In fiscal year FY26, the department contributed $21 billion to IFC's program through 145 syndications. Our syndications partners include international and local commercial banks, institutional investors, impact funds, credit insurers, SWFs, and DFIs. The Department is also responsible for the ongoing syndicated loan portfolio management engagements with third-party investors.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Latin America regional Syndications team as an Associate Syndications Officer, based in Washington, DC. The selected candidate will report to the Head of Syndications for Latin America.

Responsibilities:
• Syndicate or contribute to syndications for IFC-originated debt with international commercial or local banks, institutional investors, funds, credit insurers, and other development finance institutions.
• Advise (or contribute to the advising of) investment teams across Latin America on appropriate syndication strategy for deals across corporate financings and project financings. This includes advise on structuring issues, pricing and other commercial terms to ensure the transactions are distributable, and also advice on the different syndication products such as B Loans, Parallel Loans, MCPP, credit insurance, and new syndication pathways such as DSS, B bonds and securitization.
• Conduct industry and bank market research and pricing data analysis, including secondary market pricing; lead the preparation of regular pricing reports for syndicated loans.
• Follow international lending markets and banking activities to understand and anticipate trends. Regularly and proactively share market information with IFC colleagues.
• Conduct deal-specific market soundings to advise the IFC project team on deal structure and pricing; develop a syndication strategy for individual transactions, including the list of prospective partners.
• Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of information memoranda, executive summaries, and other reports for marketing in collaboration with the relevant Investment Department.
• Manage assigned syndicated loan portfolio by providing high-quality service to co-lenders on ongoing project work (amendments, waivers, restructurings, information transmission on key developments, responding to inquiries), ensuring contractual responsibilities with co-lenders are being met while maintaining strong relationships.
• Expand the pool of syndication partners to maximize delivery to IFC's borrowers, including new investors, new types of investors, and in broadened currencies, while maintaining strong relationships with existing partners.

Selection Criteria
• MBA or equivalent master's level degree in finance
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including broad exposure to corporate and project finance, capital markets, and the syndicated loan market in emerging markets.
• Extensive experience with loan documentation and credit issues for private sector companies and project financings in developing countries.
• Experience with market intelligence research tools, including Dealogic - Loan Analytics, Bloomberg, and market publications, and book-running platforms such as Debt Domain and Intralinks.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills to effectively influence the support and perception of clients/partners. Ability to draft documents and reports that are concise, well-organized, and appropriately focused on the most critical points that are relevant to the target audience.
• Pro-active, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to involve others in decision making and seek guidance when appropriate. Able to listen to diverse ideas and approaches, and proactively share own perspective.
• Able to manage several tasks concurrently, prioritize, and collaborate in a global organization with teams that are based worldwide, which requires flexibility outside regular office hours.
• Ability to convey issues, problems, and solutions articulately and with tact and diplomacy in internal and external communications.
