Full Job Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates are responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Organization and Leadership
  • Develop and implement systems of operations for buildings and grounds, transportation, food services, mailroom, records access, and elections.
  • Coordinate services for capital projects and risk management to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant execution.
  • Cooperate with the District auditor and the New York State Department of Audit and Control to maintain sound facilities management and effective risk management practices.
  • Champion the District's mission, core values, and strategic objectives within all operational departments.
  • Develop effective processes to plan for continuous improvement, solve problems systemically, and achieve desired results.
  • Develop and maintain clear lines of communication and collaboration between operational staff, administrators, and district leadership.
  • Oversee the management and stewardship of three closed school buildings, including maintenance, security, compliance, and any planning related to their future use.
  • Manage and administer the District's facilities usage process, including scheduling, community partnerships, permitting, and compliance with Board policy.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of all District buildings and grounds through consistent standards and regular inspection protocols.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and monitoring of all facilities-related state reports in accordance with New York State requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the development, implementation, and annual review of school and district safety plans in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Supervision and Management

Provides direct supervision and operational oversight to the following departments and functions:
  • Food Services
  • Transportation Department
  • Print Shop
  • Inventory Control
  • Mailroom Services
  • Security Managers
  • Custodial and Maintenance Foreman
  • Contractors

Strategic and Operational Planning
  • Align operational systems with the District's educational goals and student-centered priorities.
  • Ensure a collaborative culture by setting and maintaining clear standards for all operational teams.
  • Foster a positive and professional climate in all operational departments, promoting accountability, mutual respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize efficiency and resource allocation across departments.

Additional Responsibilities

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.

  • Strong knowledge of buildings and grounds management, transportation, food services, and operations in an educational environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with district leadership, unions, contractors, and community stakeholders
  • Experience with capital project oversight and risk management is preferred

APPOINTMENT

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, following a thorough assessment of training, experience, credentials, certifications, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews will be scheduled where appropriate.
