The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Reporting to the Deputy University Registrar, the Associate Registrar, Instructional Support, designs the strategy for and ensures appropriate interfacing with the University Registrar in support of the School for Professional Studies (SPS) academic programs with a clear understanding of the dual demands of academic mission and institutional service; creates and carries out official policies and procedures of the University Registrar, interfaces with other departments within SPS as well as throughout the University; and performs other duties as well as participates in related projects as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

COLLABORATE WITH SPS INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE REGISTRAR SUPPORT FOR ALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Work closely with Associate Director of Program Planning and Policy to design and document policies and procedures for instructional support for program directors and faculty. Work with senior staff to identify and address instructional needs (i.e. classroom management, classroom reservations), communicates pertinent deadlines and dates to faculty (i.e. grade submissions, and academic calendar).
  • Establish and steward relationships with other CU schools (Barnard, SIPA, Law Business etc.) for purposes of obtaining and sharing space.
  • Establish and steward relationships with other CU schools at the institutional level for the purpose of assessing needs, ensuring quality and consistency of instructional support across schools involved in joint programming with SPS.
  • Establish and steward relationships with the University Registrar, central administration and SPS administrative offices to work in support of the SPS Instructional Support team.

COLLABORATE WITH SPS INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE OPERATIONAL SUPPORT OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
  • In close collaboration with the Registrar's room scheduling team, supervise room scheduling, including electronic classrooms, for all classes in collaboration with SPS Facilities/CUIT Barnard College and other sources. Evaluate requests for room changes, implementing those deemed necessary throughout the academic year (e.g. seminars, course changes). Develop new relationships with neighboring institutions for the purpose of acquiring additional space.
  • Initiate communication for course and exam scheduling, and other instructional processes in alignment with processes and timelines of the Office of the Provost, Office of the Registrar.
  • Liaise with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in service of academic administration.
  • Monitor and communicate University policies and developments regarding the use of the learning management systemand related technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Instructional Support to ensure operational support for all SPS instruction.

SCHEDULING AND COURSE OVERSIGHT
  • Facilitate communication with SPS Academic Affairs, Program Directors, coordinators, faculty, Associate Dean of Students, regarding course scheduling changes on an ongoing basis.
  • Working closely with the various academic departments, ensure that course data is recorded in the Courses Management is accurate and up to date..

PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AND PARTICIPATE IN RELATED PROJECTS AS NEEDED
  • Work with IT, faculty and staff to ensure that all systems related to academic support are fully supportive of the needs of the teaching faculty and students.
  • Facilitate support and technical assistance for online courses.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of five to seven years of related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with student information systems, learning management systems and other University systems is highly desirable.

  • A clear understanding of the dual demands of academic mission and institutional service is needed, plus excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must have the ability to mediate problems among constituents.
  • Proficiency using the full suite of Microsoft Office required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as take initiative to start and complete projects with minimum direction.
  • Data reporting, data management, and experience with database systems required.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with members of the teaching faculty is a critical responsibility
  • Evening and weekend work sometimes required.
  • Must have strong managerial and organizational skills as well as ability to prioritize and multi-task.
