Full Job Description
Pay Grade/Pay Range: Not Graded
Department/Organization: 200001 - VP Academic Affairs Office
Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary: The Associate Provost of Strategy and Operations provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and executive-level management for initiatives that advance the University's academic mission and institutional priorities. Establishes project governance structures, implementation plans, timelines, performance metrics, and accountability measures. Guides new programs and pilot initiatives from concept development through implementation, evaluation, and institutionalization.
Additional Department Summary: Serves as a senior executive leader within the Office for Academic Affairs (OAA) and a key member of the Provost's leadership team. Partners with academic and administrative leaders to translate institutional strategy into measurable outcomes, ensure effective execution of major initiatives, support resource stewardship, and strengthen organizational effectiveness across Academic Affairs. Serves as the Provost's designated representative on academic affairs matters as assigned, and provides leadership for cross-functional initiatives, organizational change, academic operations, strategic communications, financial affairs, and resource allocation.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and fifteen (15) years of experience; OR master's and thirteen (13) years of experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and academic leadership. Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop project plans, manage timelines, and ensure accountability for deliverables. Ability to exercise independent judgement, handle sensitive information, and make decisions aligned with institution priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and facilitate collaboration among various stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing time frames.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing complex projects in central academic units with demonstrated success leading cross-institutional initiatives in a complex higher education environment.
