Description

The Snow College Office of Academic Affairs seeks a strategic and visionary leader who has the desire and expertise to continue the development of a strong online program that is highly personalized and supportive and marked by quality, student success, flexibility, and individualized support. As the Associate Provost for Innovation, Online Education, and Faculty Development, this individual will work directly with faculty to develop courses in a variety of modalities, certificates, pathways, and degrees that lead to workforce and/or transfer.

The Associate Provost (AP) oversees three main areas at Snow College: Instruction and Assessment, Academic Innovation, and Student Success.

The Associate Provost of Innovation, Online, and Faculty Development reports to the Provost and oversees academic innovation, online education, concurrent enrollment, the testing center, and the Teaching and Learning Center. The AP ensures quality across teaching mediums and modalities, ensures student success in the various modalities, and collaborates with student support services to provide impactful interventions and support that increase student success. The AP provides regular reports on growth, persistence, and retention in online modalities, as well as reports that validate the impact of student support measures. The AP also collaborates with the faculty development team and the academic leadership team in developing faculty development opportunities that focus on engaged learning, inclusive pedagogies, and student success.

The AP will be a member of the Academic Affairs leadership team. With a primary focus on student success, together they will work to promote the effective interrelationship of instructional support, faculty development, academic programs and curriculum, academic initiatives, academic innovation, access, and completion.
Qualifications

  • Service as a faculty member at an accredited institution of higher education
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience in higher education

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare useable information and reports for various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple, complex projects; strong ability to multi-task and continually prioritize changing tasks and deliverables
  • A solid understanding of, and commitment to, academic freedom
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
  • Experience in assessment and strategic planning at a department or division level
  • Strong commitment to a collegial environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the college community

Major Responsibilities/Duties

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions. Responsibilities are not listed in any particular order of importance or significance:

  • Create a long-term vision, strategy, and strategic plan for online education
  • Guide the development and integration of new online learning certificates and degrees in academic programs
  • Develop, communicate, and implement, along with stakeholders, a mission-consistent vision and strategic plan for online learning
  • Cultivate unity among relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and support innovative academic opportunities
  • In collaboration with the Teaching and Learning Center and the office of academic affairs, facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty
  • Analyze workforce development data to identify programs for development in the online modality
  • Oversee Concurrent Enrollment and Early College strategies
  • Oversee prior learning assessment (PLA) policies and assessment at the institution
  • Develop onboarding and development opportunities for new and adjunct faculty
  • Oversee annual new faculty training
  • Serve on the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) Transfer Council and other statewide committees as needed
  • Ensure programs are meeting the needs of learners
  • Foster unity and collaboration among faculty and staff.
  • Contribute to NC-SARA accreditation
  • Work with academic and administrative leaders to provide senior-level support for college-level initiatives and innovation, as requested, and serve on assigned internal and external committees and task forces
  • Continue and expand the unified approach of quality for online courses established at the institution
  • Participate in Deans Council, Academic Affairs staff meetings, and Faculty Senate meetings as appropriate.
  • Ability to adapt and lead with innovation to emerging needs as the national/international field of higher education evolves
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Provost
