About this Opportunity:

As an Associate Portfolio Manager, Custom Indexing, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, customization, transition, and ongoing management of tax-managed client portfolios. This role will work closely with the Portfolio Management team on the day-to-day operations of managing client accounts. As we continue to evolve and live our Orion values, we are looking for someone to grow with us.

It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work as a Hybrid employee, with three (3) or more days each week required on-site at one of the listed office locations.

Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to an office. Internal candidates currently aligned to an Orion office location may be given preference; however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Support Portfolio Managers to plan, customize, transition, and manage client portfolios with a focus on the optimization process and Direct Indexing
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal sales professionals, financial advisors and their clients to ensure high levels of service for tax managed solutions
  • Conduct preliminary optimizations for client portfolios and collaborate with Portfolio Managers and internal teams to monitor, maintain, and rebalance existing client portfolios
  • Optimize portfolios and generate trades for daily cash flows in and out of Custom Indexing accounts
  • Participate in product working groups by offering feedback on Direct Indexing enhancements from a user and client-service perspective
  • Develop a strong understanding of our internal tax management optimization and Direct Indexing software utilized to manage client portfolios
  • Assist with internal audit reviews or compliance reporting by preparing reporting of daily, weekly, and quarterly tasks, and explaining optimization decisions and trade rationale
  • Maintain industry knowledge of tax policy, financial planning, as well as economic, and financial market conditions


We're looking for talent who:
  • Has background in technology, quantitative analysis, mathematics, and quantitative subject matter is strongly encouraged
  • Has eagerness to become an expert of the Orion technology stack, including the integration of multiple platforms and our Custom Indexing offering
  • Has effective communication skills to understand and explain complicated subject matter to a variety of audiences
  • Has ability to work effectively both individually and within a team environment
  • Has proficient skills with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Has excellence in writing, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Possess an ever-questioning approach as to how technology, processes, and collaboration can build upon our product offerings
  • Has a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and works effectively with people at all levels in an organization


Licensing Requirements:
  • This position requires a Series 65 license or both Series 7 and 66 licenses. If the required license(s) are not held at the time of hire, they must be obtained within 90 days of the start date. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment in accordance with company policy

The pay listed in this posting indicates the estimated pay at the time of this posting; however, may vary depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
