Full Job Description
Position Summary:

With limited supervision, supports the formulation of monetary policy for the United States by ensuring the Bank President receives expert analysis on the relevant near-term and long-term issues impacting the economy, including high-level data analysis and policy-related economic and statistical modelling. Responsible for integrating the department's analysis of economic issues with an appropriate, well-articulated policy position. Provides commentary and recommendations (which may include quantitative and/or analytical analysis) on current economic developments and policy issues for the research director and other senior management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Studies developments in theory and research methods, is depended on by other staff members for advice on these developments and applies developments as necessary.
  • Develops new methods/applications when appropriate, understands the systemic impact of policies.
  • Conducts research on topics directly connected to the successful conduct of economic policy, suitable for publication in the Bank's Working Papers, an appropriate field journal, or better.
  • With limited supervision, contributes to monetary policy-related briefings with the Bank President and Director of Research on relevant issues impacting policy.
  • With limited supervision, contributes to the Bank's economic forecast and associated policy-related projections.
  • With limited supervision, contributes to the public's understanding of relevant economic issues, including support of executive speeches, public presentations as needed, web-resources, and bank publications.


Education: Master's Degree; PhD in Economics preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • This position will require at minimum fingerprinting for a criminal background check, education and employment verification, along with potential additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job.
