Job Summary

The Associate, Investments primarily supports Investment Office staff responsible for Public Equities, Hedge Funds, and Fixed Income fund manager allocations. The role requires strong analytical capabilities and consists of quantitative and qualitative fund manager due diligence. The Associate, Investments assists in underwriting a range of investment strategies and fund managers, provides actionable insights and recommendations, and produces investment committee materials. This role requires strong communication skills, collaboration, attention to detail, organization, and initiative.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in financial asset management (institutional preferred)
  • Experience in the non-profit investment management space preferred (i.e., Universities, Endowments, Healthcare, etc.)
  • Organized, strong attention to detail and ability to work with diverse teams
  • Ability to communicate with and present to C-suite management and Investment Committee of the Board


Principal Accountabilities
  • Investment fund manager due diligence
  • Ongoing internal reporting, including Investment Committee
  • Review of and ensure compliance with Investment Policy Statement
  • Monitor performance of investments and make recommendations on manager selections; develop and manage internal performance monitoring system
  • Development, implement and evaluate asset allocation strategies, with responsibility to ensure these successfully meet or exceed set financial goals.
  • Partner with HR regarding the Defined Contribution plan fund alternatives and manager selections
  • Supervise Investment Analysts and Summer Interns.
  • Oversee the account management and operational processes
  • Provide input in evaluation of Investment Consultant performance and advise on optimal Consultant structure.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
