Full Job Description
What it's about

Join Partners Group in Denver to help build and scale a newly established private equity strategy from the ground up. The new Total Return Strategy is designed to pursue a differentiated return profile by combining recurring dividends with equity appreciation, focusing on high-quality, cash-generative businesses that are often a misfit for traditional LBO structures.

This strategy is intended to address a gap in the corporate capital marketplace through a more resilient approach to underwriting, including lower leverage and a focus on businesses with the potential to support recurring dividends. As an Associate, you will play an important role in shaping how the team sources, evaluates, and executes investments. You will work closely with senior investors in a lean team environment, helping translate complex diligence findings into clear investment recommendations and decision-ready materials.

This is a compelling opportunity for a high-performing investor who wants meaningful responsibility, close exposure to decision-making, and the chance to help define a new strategy within a global platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Investment analysis & modeling: Build and maintain robust transaction models (operating build, valuation, returns, sensitivities, scenarios) to support underwriting and decision-making.
  • Investment Committee materials: Draft IC memos and presentations translating diligence into a clear recommendation, key risks, mitigants, and decision asks.
  • Diligence execution: Drive analytical workstreams across commercial, financial, and operational diligence; synthesize findings into investable insights and underwriting implications.
  • Lean deal team / high ownership: Operate on small, nimble deal teams alongside senior investors with meaningful responsibility for core analyses and workstreams.
  • Transaction support & process management: Coordinate with internal partners and external advisors; support documentation, data requests, and timeline management through execution and closing.
  • Portfolio support: Assist with portfolio company monitoring to support governance, reporting, and ongoing investment decision-making

What we expect

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in private equity, growth equity, private credit, investment banking, consulting with substantial transaction exposure, or a related investing environment.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and comfort building models from scratch; strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate diligence outputs into clear, decision-ready narratives for senior stakeholders (e.g., IC materials).
  • Ability to independently drive analytical workstreams, manage priorities, and operate effectively in lean, fast-moving teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across internal partners and external advisors; clear, professional communication.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a high-integrity approach to investing; openness to diverse perspectives and ways of working.
