Salary Range: $135,000 - $200,000

Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for an Associate Investment Advisor to join the MacInnes Group in our Oakville office. Led by William MacInnes, Senior Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager, the MacInnes Group focuses on supporting the wealth management needs of exceptionally accomplished entrepreneurs, private investors, and their families. This is a great opportunity for an Associate looking to grow and support a Wealth Management team in establishing and maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with a team to support client relationships and the growth of a sustainable wealth management business.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial plans using Conquest software, tailoring recommendations to address the complex needs of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex planning needs such as holding companies, stock options, individual pension plans, retirement compensation arrangements, charitable giving, and intergenerational wealth transfer.
  • Provide planning support on areas such as retirement, tax and estate strategies, holding companies, stock options, charitable giving, and intergenerational wealth transfer.
  • Service client accounts by processing and confirming transactions, executing trade orders, updating account documentation, and ensuring accurate account maintenance.
  • Communicate directly with clients, respond to inquiries, provide market quotes, and support ongoing relationship management.
  • Maintain account lists, prepare reports and statistical information, and contribute to business development and marketing initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience working in a Wealth Management team under an established Advisor.
  • Licensed as an Investment Representative (IR) or Registered Representative (RR) with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), and a well-rounded knowledge of the securities industry.
  • Must hold or working towards Certified Financial Professional (CFP) designation.
  • Additional designations such as Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA), Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and/or Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) are asset.
  • Professional presentation skills, including the ability to communicate investment concepts, financial planning ideas, and the team’s value proposition to high-net-worth clients and prospects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, take initiatives and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently, and effectively with employees and clients at all levels.
  • Persistent and ambitious, with a commitment to high professional standards and meaningful goal achievement.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills: good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
  • Experience with Dataphile, Maximizer, Conquest and netx360 would be an asset.
