Associate Industrial Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), in San Antonio, is seeking an Associate Industrial Engineer to support maintenance, modification and upgrades of various Mobility, Surveillance, and Bomber programs (MS&B).

A professional in this field constantly reviews the allocation of resources, analyzes productivity, and seeks out ways to maximize production while minimizing cost. This demanding position presents challenging and rewarding opportunities that never fail to engage intellectual curiosity and push the edge of innovative thinking. The success of the IE has a direct correlation to the success of the program they support.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Schedule work plans, data analysis (historical, trends and production impacts), staffing and process improvements.
  • Assisting in the development of shop floor operating schedules, capacity planning, and developing spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics and operations research).
  • Providing summary analysis and metrics for consultation to internal customers at various levels.
  • Assist in research, design, development, improvement and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts.
  • Utilize engineering methods to assist in developing optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, and equipment) in the creation and validation of products.

  • Candidate must be able to interact with employees to gather data for process improvements. This may include observing and documenting processes, and collecting data in manufacturing areas or on aircraft during various production phases.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in San Antonio, TX.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Top Security Clearance/Yankee White for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • 2 or more years of related experience
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Requires the ability to walk, stand, and enter into aircraft via steps or ladders as needed. Also, candidate may be in proximity to chemicals when observing/gathering data in an area in the factory where chemicals are in use.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Knowledge of Aircraft modifications or aircraft production environments.
  • Experience with 3D Computer aided design tools preferred.
  • Experience with wire bundle fabrication concepts, wire installation, electrical equipment installation, and installation of wiring provisions in a modification environment preferred.
  • Industrial Engineering experience in a factory setting, familiarity with manufacturing operations, manufacturing planning, engineering drawings and specifications, lean concepts (certifications preferred)
  • Experience working with data sets from a wide variety of sources such as SQL server or Oracle preferred.
  • Experience in Aurora modeling
