Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, management consulting, product strategy, or corporate finance.
  • Experience analyzing, researching, or operating within the Artificial Intelligence, AI cloud infrastructure, or semiconductor markets.

Preferred qualifications:
  • CFA, MBA, or another advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Understanding of AI value chain, specifically encompassing generative AI models, cloud infrastructure, and silicon/semiconductors.
  • Knowledge of accelerator architectures, data center infrastructure, and associated supply chains.
  • Ability to work across technical, financial, and commercial datasets to translate ambiguous market signals into polished, actionable executive deliverables. Including, comfort with SQL, Python, and navigating large datasets.
  • Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity, intellectual curiosity, and to operate effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with leading proprietary market data providers.

The Central Finance Market Intelligence (CFMI) team is a financial research group within the broader Corporate Finance and Investor Relations organization. Our work serves two complementary sets of stakeholders: Finance leadership and front-line business partners spanning from Product to GBO across the company.

For Finance leadership, we provide the market intelligence needed to drive Alphabet's strategic planning process and to make major capital allocation decisions with confidence. For the business partners, we inform product and go-to-market (GTM) strategy, strategic partnerships, and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) diligence through market landscape overviews, value chain analyses, opportunity sizing, and competitive benchmarking.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Market Intelligence: Lead strategic research across the full AI value chain (applications, models, cloud infrastructure, silicon) to identify growth and investment opportunities. Build rigorous, bottom-up industry models using proprietary datasets and market data.
  • Competitive Analysis: Own real-time competitor earnings coverage to distill strategic implications for Alphabet. Produce quarterly overviews and maintain market metrics benchmarking internal performance against broader industry trends.
  • Industry Engagement: Conduct primary research and expert interviews with industry participants, suppliers, and customers to identify market catalysts in real time and develop independent conclusions.
  • Executive Advisory: Serve as a subject-matter expert advising cross-functional executive teams (e.g., Google DeepMind, K&I, Cloud) on product, go-to-market strategy, partnerships, and M&A diligence.
  • Strategic Planning: Translate technological, capacity, and pricing trends into key assumptions underpinning Alphabet's long-range P&L, CapEx, and cash flow forecasts as part of company strategic planning.
