Position Summary

The Morehouse School of Medicine's (MSM) Office of the General Counsel is searching for an Associate General Counsel (AGC). The AGC will work on a variety of legal matters and projects with a primary focus on the management of MSM's organization-wide Contract Management System(CMS). The AGC will also perform other general legal duties including providing support to the various MSM and Morehouse Healthcare departments. The AGC will also be asked to assist the GC/Corporate Secretary with Board of Trustee governance coordination, and other related matters.

This AGC must be collaborative, extremely organized/methodical, results-driven, and have exceptional communication skills and robust time management skills.

This AGC will work with a team that provides the legal expertise that both protects and furthers the mission of the MSM. This role supports the MSM and its faculty clinical practice, Morehouse Health Care (MHC) by providing practical legal advice and recommendations on day-to-day legal issues enabling the MSM and MHC to meet its mission objectives.

The ideal candidate will have in-house legal experience, be a business-minded attorney who understands business objectives, processes and be able to work under tight deadlines. This individual is also a creative problem-solver and a collaborative team player.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead efforts in partnership with cross-department stakeholders to drive the comprehensive implementation, testing, population, and maintenance of the CMS, including scoping, design, configuration, data migration, UAT, validation, training, and all related logistics
• Manage all aspects of CMS' system administration as its "super user" following implementation (e.g., CMS vendor SLA, troubleshooting, user credentials/profiles, batching, security, updates, and audits)
• Manage the CMS repository functionalities and oversee strategic waves of data migration, including importing legacy contracts, maintaining quality control of metadata, linking associated documents, and handling ongoing audit efforts
• Develop and manage CMS technical training program (e.g., develop, deliver, and publish CMS training materials, resources/guidelines, and manuals to support CMS end users)
• Create and maintain contract templates, forms, and email templates using CMS-specific field variables to enable generation of contract documents based on CMS metadata
• Perform oversight of the contract review status and management of CMS review "Queue" and other workflows to ensure timely completion of actions by attorneys and business stakeholders
• Manage and monitor system analytics and reporting functionality on a go-forward basis, including facilitation of system generated contract abstracts and monitoring of deadlines, as necessary
• Work with stakeholders to design, generate, and customize CMS reports, tickler/reminders, and dashboards to meet business needs and drive internal KPIs
• Manage "Contracts Inbox" (and contract intake through this interim repository) and lead quarterly contracts audit to track contract statuses/key metrics
• Drive various company strategic initiatives and services on various committees from a legal operations/logistics perspective (e.g., MDM, legal "Hub", training)
• Assist with other projects and initiatives, and support the long-term contract needs of the legal department, procurement function, and the organization at large- Perform legal research and provide legal advice and counsel on a range of legal topics including higher education law, regulatory matters, and procurement.
• Draft and interpret university policies, standards and procedures, and review proposed legislative bills, resolutions, and amendments affecting the Morehouse School of Medicine, and performs additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience as an attorney. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia or the ability to get licensed within 6-12 months of date of hire.
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a CMS systems administrator or manager, preferably in a corporate inhouse legal department.
• Proficient with developing presentations, training guidelines, contract reports using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Experience with developing and implementing system driven workflows and designing, implementing, and driving successful change management
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects to conclusion, on time/budget, and without compromise to quality of work output
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to get into the details of complex problems and drive creative solutions
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams both throughout the organization and with external business partners

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a teaching hospital and/or academic medical center.
