WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Associate Engineer is instrumental in managing engineering projects and implementing technological innovations to enhance productivity and operational efficiency at the Bakersfield facility. This role is pivotal in advancing engineering standards, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and navigating technical challenges to achieve excellent performance outcomes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Technological Assessment: Evaluate the benefits of engineering technology and process changes in the plant, identifying potential enhancements to optimize operations.
  • Technical Integration: Integrate engineering principles and manufacturing technologies to resolve technical challenges effectively.
  • Risk and Benefit Analysis: Analyze existing methods to recommend improvements based on comprehensive risk assessments and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Project Execution: Manage small to medium-sized capital projects, ensuring successful design, construction, and commissioning within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Plant Support: Provide support to the plant by monitoring equipment, troubleshooting issues, and developing solutions to maintain production efficiency.
  • Utility and Energy Oversight: Oversee utility and energy systems, ensuring efficiency and optimal resource utilization.
  • Data Understanding and Analysis: Gather, interpret, and analyze data to identify patterns and trends that can improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance and operations to upgrade preventive maintenance processes, incorporating new insights to enhance reliability.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead detailed root cause analyses to identify reliability issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Team Building: Foster strong relationships across teams, providing mentorship and technical leadership to enhance team troubleshooting skills using Six Sigma and other methodologies.


ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership: Ability to effectively lead, coach, and mentor teams.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Profound understanding of engineering principles applicable to food manufacturing.
  • Project Management: Proven competency in managing projects from start to finish.
  • Continuous Improvement: Dedicated to the principles of continuous improvement.
  • Technical Drawing: Skilled in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent software.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong proactive problem-solving abilities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Chemical, or Process Engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry or consumer products.
  • 1+ years of project management experience.
  • 1+ years of supervising contractors directly.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Six Sigma or similar quality improvement methodologies.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:

  • Standard work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to work weekends during project launches and critical periods.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
  • Workplace must comply with company safety and environmental policies.

1st shift (6am-2:30pm) Monday thru Friday, when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory.
