Duties

Function as a technical specialist and independently execute power system studies using advanced industry software such as ETAP and SKM. Operates computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform calculations such as short circuit, load flow, motor starting, arc flash, and protective device coordination for solar, BESS, conventional generation facilities, and water / wastewater facilities. Utilizes AcSELerator Quickset to assist in performing Arc Flash and Protective device coordination studies and ProjectWise Explorer for managing document control. Perform data collection at project sites. Confer with engineers, clients, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering solutions. Daily tasks include research, design, and communication with other project team members. Under close supervision, performs engineering functions requiring knowledge and experience in engineering principles. Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures. Applies to assigned tasks as appropriate. Prepares and verifies less complex engineering deliverables. Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Seeks out supervisor or project leadership to share information and gain guidance with respect to details of design and interdisciplinary coordination. Coordinates with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership. Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities. Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes. No hire/fire authority. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related, and 1 year related work experience. Related experience must include performing studies including Short Circuit (Fault) Studies, Load Flow Studies, Motor Starting Studies, Arc Flash Studies, and Coordination Studies. Must have experience with commonly utilized system modeling software programs (including ETAP and SKM). Must have experience with Auxiliary Power System design including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and wiring. Must have experience with Auxiliary Power Systems and design practices which are encountered in Water / Wastewater facilities, and industrial facilities. Must have experience with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft 365. Must have experience with IEEE and NFPA standards. Must have experience independently developing written communication and facilitating coordination with team members and clients. Must have experience working cooperatively in a team environment. Must have experience adhering to project schedules, budgets, and scope of work. This position allows for telecommuting within standard commuting distance from the Black & Veatch Irvine, CA office. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments. National travel required up to 10% of the time. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. California Wage Range: $85,613 to $158,965.
