Associate Director, Statistical Science - Biostatistics

The Statistical Science Associate Directorhassufficientexperience working as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry to independentlyperform andlead statistical work within a project,an indicationwithin a more complex project or complex studies.This individualis able toleadand directBiometricsworkeither in-house orpartneringwith CROs to ensure delivery to quality and time.

Typical Accountabilities:

The Statistical Science Associate Director may work as a lead statistician:

  • For a project orindicationin clinical therapeutic areas

  • Leadingthe delivery and oversight on multiple studies/indicationwithin a project

Theaccountabilitiesfor supporting projects directly include:

  • Analyze, interpret,summarizeand present results of clinicalstudy

  • Conductstatistical modelling to predict the timing of interim and final event-driven analyses in a clinical study

  • Direct project work, including statistical staff and/or CRO partners, to ensure delivery to standards,qualityand time

  • Developstudydesign options and providehigh qualitydecision support to enable the business to make informed decisions about a study or project

  • Investigate and apply novel statistical approaches, for relevant statistical issues and/or regulatory guidance and/or value demonstration, including modelling and simulation

  • Mentor/coach and support the training of statistics staff

Education, Qualifications,Skillsand Experience:

  • MSc/PhD in Statistics,Biostatistics, orrecognisedequivalent to statsMSc

  • 5+ yrs of experience of pharmaceutical development, data analysis and interpretation and experience of program design;preferably, experienced indesigningandexecuting aPhase III Oncology study

  • Strong knowledge of programming in R and/or SAS

  • Experienced in conducting simulations

  • Knowledge of the technical and regulatory requirements related to the role

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships

  • Excellent collaboration skills to work across functional boundaries

  • Ability to apply statisticalexpertiseto complex problems, with a focusonproblem solving and quality.
