Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position:

Under general supervision, develops and maintains systems for monitoring standards for professional activities as mandated under Federal and State legislation. Provides guidance and advice with respect to policies and priorities in the development of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.

Examples of Typical Tasks:
1. Monitors hospital performance to assure compliance with professional standards.
2. Directs and coordinates the implementation of hospitals' representation and participation in Professional Standards Review Organization.
3. Monitors utilization review committees in all health facilities.
4. Reviews legislation and implementing administrative procedures and policies of Professional Standards Review Organization in New York City.
5. Represents the Corporation in negotiations and discussions with P.S.R.O. representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

* Qualification for Central Office.
# Qualification for Health Care Facility.
1. a. A Baccalaureate Degree in Public Administration, Public Health or Health Care Specialization; and,
b. Five* years or four# years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital administration, with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,
2. a. A Master's Degree in Public Administration, Public Health or Health Care Specialization; and,
b. Four* years or three# years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital administration, with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services.

Department Preferences

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Improvement and Risk Management principles and practices.
  • Experience with chart review and reporting functions in electronic medical records.
  • Working knowledge of FQHC program and its requirements is highly preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff from senior leadership to line workers in order to coach and assist.
  • Interest in continuous learning and a commitment to staying informed on regulatory changes.
