Full Job Description
Primary Purpose:

Performs general administrative duties involving all aspects of library operation including assessment of emerging technologies, supervision of the systems librarian and circulation manager, teaching and research services, and reference work. Supports the day-to-day operations and management of the Library and makes recommendations for the development and implementation of the Library's circulation, and technical services. Assists in long and short-term planning strategies, with the goal of providing better library services that align with the Law Center curriculum, research needs, and Mission.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating.
2. Organizes, coordinates, and administers bibliographic instruction, and library orientation.
3. Ensures quality and accuracy of the services provided to Library customers through the Technical Services Department.
4. Advises upper management of developments and trends in law, librarianship, and technology.
5. Coordinates interdepartmental activities within the Library and assists in identifying and executing Technical Services Department projects, and establishing Technical Services Department standards and policies.
6. Participates in the preparation of the annual budget and monitors the materials budget.
7. Creates processes and procedures that streamline Technical Services Department operations.
8. Sustains contacts and networking opportunities with library and legal community stakeholders.
9. Participates with developing plans for renovation of physical facilities and directly supervises ongoing projects within the Technical Services Department.
10. Teaches Advanced Legal Research at least one semester a year (provided the College of Law offers the course).
11. Develops and implements policies and procedures relating to operations, collections and technical services.
12. Provides professional development opportunities for all Technical Services staff at the Panza Mauer Law Library.
13. Co-manages the library's social networking program and evaluates new emerging technologies for use in the library with an eye towards expanded library services.
14. Makes recommendations for purchase of library materials.
15. Provides research and reference services in a team environment.
16. Consults with other key personnel on electronic, Web 2.0 tools, emerging technologies, and other media based resources.
17. Serves on cross-library committees at NSU-Florida.
18. Engages in professional development, including representing the library in a professional organization context.
19. Establishes and communicates priorities for the Technical Services Department and monitors the quality of all work products.
20. Performs original and complex copy cataloging in all formats.
21. Maintains the integrity and accuracy of records.
22. Works with library materials vendors to ensure print and online resources are kept current.
23. Creates and maintains ERM (Electronic Resource Management).
24. Create, document, implement, and evaluate shared practices and procedures across all libraries for shared systems, related software and services.
25. Prepares informational, tracking, statistical and required reports.
26. Chairs and participates on various PMLL organizations and committees.
27. Stays abreast of publishers' current offerings and recommends cost-effective selections/withdrawals for the collection in accordance with acquisitions policies.
28. Represents the law library and the University at local, regional and national meetings and conferences.
29. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Certifications/Licensures:

Required Education: Juris Doctorate and Master's Degree
