Associate Director of Reconstruction

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in property restoration to serve as our Associate Director of Reconstruction.

This is a leadership role first. We are not simply looking for an experienced Project Manager who is ready for the next title. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated the ability to lead people, develop teams, create accountability, and drive performance

The right candidate must understand the restoration industry and insurance reconstruction, but their ability to lead will be what separates them.

You will help lead our Reconstruction Project Managers and oversee project performance from handoff through completion, ensuring projects are properly planned, staffed, documented, executed, and financially managed.

You will work closely with the Director of Reconstruction, Project Managers, Coordinators, Estimators, subcontractors, customers, and insurance partners to build a high performing Reconstruction operation.

What You'll Do

Lead and Develop People
• Lead, coach, and develop Reconstruction Project Managers
• Establish clear expectations and create a culture of accountability
• Coach individuals differently based on their strengths, weaknesses, and development needs
• Conduct performance reviews, coaching, hiring, and onboarding
• Address performance issues directly and quickly
• Recognize high performers and develop future leaders
• Build trust with the team while maintaining high standards
• Create a culture of ownership, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement
• Lead by example and demonstrate the behaviors expected from the team

Drive Project and Portfolio Performance
• Oversee reconstruction projects from handoff through completion
• Ensure projects are properly planned, scheduled, staffed, and executed
• Monitor project progress, cycle times, profitability, and customer satisfaction across the portfolio
• Identify stalled projects and remove bottlenecks before they impact customers or financial performance
• Ensure labor, subcontractors, materials, and resources are effectively managed
• Ensure project files remain accurate, complete, current, and audit ready
• Ensure company workflows, systems, SOPs, and insurance program requirements are consistently followed

Drive Financial Performance
• Drive reconstruction gross profit and revenue goals
• Review job costing, budgets, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, and overall project financial performance
• Identify jobs trending below expectations and implement corrective action plans
• Ensure Project Managers understand and take ownership of their numbers
• Reduce unnecessary costs, rework, delays, and margin erosion
• Partner with estimating and operations leadership to identify scope gaps, supplements, and opportunities to protect project profitability

Solve Problems and Lead Through Challenges
• Step into complex projects when leadership support is needed
• Make decisions and provide direction when teams encounter obstacles
• Resolve escalated customer, subcontractor, scheduling, and insurance issues
• Establish and enforce escalation protocols for delays, financial concerns, customer issues, and project risks
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, insurance partners, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Report performance, trends, risks, and opportunities to the Director of Reconstruction

What You Bring
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold people accountable
• Required experience in the property restoration industry
• Strong knowledge of insurance reconstruction and the restoration project lifecycle
• Experience leading Project Managers, construction teams, or restoration operations
• Strong understanding of construction project management and field operations
• Strong financial understanding, including job costing, budgets, gross profit, and project profitability
• A track record of improving team performance and developing people
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects, people, and priorities simultaneously
• Strong problem solving, communication, and relationship management skills
• Comfort operating in a fast paced, high accountability environment
• Experience developing, implementing, or improving SOPs and operational processes is a plus

Compensation: $95,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
