Position DescriptionThis Position is Open to Current TTUHSC Employees Only.Supports the leadership and operational objectives of the Finance Department by managing and coordinating large, specialized projects and programs. Under general supervision, performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established financial and departmental policies and procedures. As an Associate Director of Finance, this position assists with departmental administration, program coordination, and fiscal operations and may provide supervision and direction to clerical, para-professional, or professional staff members.
Major/Essential Functions- Prepares monthly financial statements for submission, including a comprehensive review and analysis of ledgers and independent preparation of financial reports for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), ensuring accuracy, and providing recommendations for balancing as needed.
- Manages the coding and entry of all Managed Care (MC) procurement in the general ledgers. This includes, reviewing and approving TechBuy invoices, internal transfers and PCard transactions for appropriateness and accurate coding.
- Collaborates with various TTUHSC and TTUHSC MC departments to ensure prompt and accurate payment of vendor invoices.
- Reconciles monthly claims payments and maintains the integrity and tracking of all offsite claims payments for accurate reporting to TDCJ.
- Processes monthly payments for various invoices and internal transfers.
- Prepares ad hoc reports and analyses for Senior Managing Director of Finance.
- Supervises Unit Manager for Materials Management, who is responsible for procuring capital equipment and furniture, managing the local departmental automobile fleet, and managing leases for equipment used sector-wise.
- Drafts, reviews and maintains MC Finance SOPs for final review by the Senior Managing Director of Finance and publication in departmental repository.
Preferred Qualifications- Current TTUHSC Employee
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Five or more years of experience with modern and state-based accounting and budgetary practices.
- Five or more years using computer and accounting software programs.
- Five or more years using computer-based physician and hospital programs.
- 1-2 years supervisory experience

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field plus four years of related administrative and technical experience OR a combination of education and/or years of experience in the area of specialization or closely related field to equal a minimum of 8 years.
Visa InformationTTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
