Law Admissions and Financial Aid


Job Summary

The Associate Director of Admissions reports to the Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid and works as part of a team to recruit a select student class to the Law School. The individual in this position will play an integral role in all aspects of the Law School's admissions process, including recruitment, evaluation, and selection of applicants for admission to the JD and Transfer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to and develops admissions strategies, policies, and procedures, including maintaining compliance with American Bar Association standards.

  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid and the Director of Admissions to plan and implement public presentations, the outreach plan to prospective students, special events, and other recruitment activities and initiatives.

  • Manages both on campus and virtual prospective student events and represents the Law School at on and off-campus recruiting events.

  • Oversees recruiting activities with the Law School Student Organizations.

  • Tracks and analyzes the effectiveness of recruiting efforts.

  • Meets with and counsels prospective and admitted students.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with pre-law advisors.

  • Reviews and evaluates JD applications.

  • Coordinates with faculty and administrators from different University units to manage all joint and dual degrees applicants, including recruitment efforts, yield management, and communications with the Law School’s JD/PhD faculty committee.

  • Manages the interview program for the JD program including scheduling, performing, and making strategic decisions about close to 1200 short virtual interviews each cycle.

  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of all admitted student events on and off campus.

  • Serves as a liaison to the Law School Admissions Council.

  • Develops communications for the Admissions office, including website content and social media.

  • Manages regional event programming such as receptions and career trek field trips for students. Works independently to expand outreach to employers in the region.

  • Expands outreach messaging via alumni clubs and special events and/or reunions. Maintains updated alumni contact records and cultivates new contacts in appropriate industries. Manages portfolio of prospective students that require special handling.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Experience:

  • Experience in law school admissions or higher education strongly preferred.
