Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center is one of New York City's premier acute care hospitals. Duties & Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Associate Director of Nursing for Nursing Administration is a member of the management team who reports to the Director of Operations and collaborates with the other Clinical Nursing Directors, the network and other disciplines towards the attainment of organizational mission and vision and implementation of the organizational strategic plan. Areas of responsibilities include but not limited to Medicine and Hemodialysis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Assumes 24-hour nursing responsibilities for all elements of patient care and staffing
2.Interprets the organizational goals, mission, vision, and policies to the staff while ensuring the knowledge and skills are provided for their successful implementation.
3.Oversees the daily operations of the Department of Medicine and Critical Services.
4.Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing coverage for assigned units.
5.Ensures safe and environment free of hazards to reduce the risk of injury to al customers. (Patients , visitors and staff)
6.Conducts risk assessments to reduce adverse events.
7.Ensures that safety management issues are appropriately addressed.
8.Ensures that the patients/families are involved and instructed concerning the therapeutic regimen and environment of care.
9.Effectively utilizes the electronic as well as the paper medical record.
10.Completes other duties as assigned.
11.Participates in survey process - DOH, JCAHO, HHC.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT:
1.Projects budgeting need based on past, present and technological trends of the future.
2.Prepares implements, and monitors Medicine Services' budget.
3.Justifications for budgeting increases, evaluates staffing requirements and justification for variances are maintained and corrective action plans are developed based on census, activity, new programs and fiscal resources.
4.Maintains cost awareness and ensures continuous quality patient care.

RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION:
1.Participates in the recruitment process.
2.Monitors staff retention, identifies staffing issues, and evaluates overall orientation and staff development process.
3.Encourages open communication with staff.
4.Ensures performance appraisals are ongoing and objective
5.Ensures open communication with staff.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
1.Responsible for ongoing self-development.
2.Membership in professional organizations related to the division.
3.Attends conferences and seminars as appropriate.

INFECTION CONTROL AND SAFETY:
1.Ensures compliance with infection control protocol and maintains surveillance of monitoring process.
2.Ensures compliance to safety and hazardous waste principles.
3.Ensures the physical plant is maintained

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
1.Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of Quality Improvement Program.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3) below.
2. A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration, Education or an equivalent field and a minimum of six years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which four years shall have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity; or,
3. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and seven years of satisfactory nursing experience, five years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or,
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
