Full Job Description
The Access Strategy Integrated Insights Associate Director, US Oncology supports multiple franchises and indications across AstraZeneca's oncology portfolio, including several upcoming launches, as well as above-brand initiatives. The role requires strong critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset. Recent consulting experience is essential. This Gaithersburg, MD-based role requires a minimum 60% in-office presence, a requirement that is mandatory.

The Associate Director develops actionable insights related to Access Strategy in oncology, uncovers drivers and barriers to product access, and distills insights and learnings applicable across the oncology portfolio. The role leads primary research (and secondary data analytics as needed) in partnership with other internal teams and external vendors. Close collaboration with Access Strategy, Brand Insights and Analytics, Brand Marketing and other commercial stakeholders is essential.

This position reports to the Director, Market Access & Precision Medicine Integrated Insights within the US Oncology Business Excellence (OBEX) team. Depending on business needs, exact indications covered may shift and responsibilities may also include precision medicine/biomarker testing insights work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses to deliver clear, actionable insights for priority business needs.


  • Identify key questions and design research and analytics plans in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.


  • Develop deep expertise in the Access Strategy space to inform strategy and operational plans.


  • Create concise, compelling reports and presentations that connect insights to business implications.


  • Integrate insights across primary research, secondary analytics, field input, marketing, and Access Strategy to deliver commercially relevant recommendations.


  • Lead KPI development, tracking, and reporting for access strategy teams or brands, serving as the voice of HCPs, payers, and other access strategy stakeholders, as needed.


  • Manage external vendors to ensure high-quality project execution.


  • Champion standardization and capability building across brands and franchises.


  • Incorporate AI tools to enhance efficiency and accelerate insights generation.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of consulting experience in the pharmaceutical sector.


  • Experience supporting market access strategy, payer insights, or related access-focused commercial work.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate insights effectively.


  • Bachelor's degree required.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience beyond consulting within pharma/biotech or related industries (e.g., analytics, market research, investment banking).


  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics), business (MBA), or biomedical sciences.


  • Experience in oncology and/or precision medicine/biomarkers.


  • Comfort with quantitative analytics and patient-level datasets (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony).


  • Experience developing end-to-end launch insights plans.


  • Strong project or program management skills.


The annual base pay for this position ranges from $155,000 to $233,000. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
