The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Associate Director - Enterprise and Real Estate Business, will serve as a deputy and reporting to the US Corporate Head of Health, Safety and Well-being, is a strategic leadership role responsible for advancing Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) performance across real estate and enterprise-level client organizations and portfolios within the US and Canada.

This position as a strategic and operational leader, you will shape and deliver program that protect people, ensure regulatory compliance, and embed a harm-free culture across all areas of the business. You will partner closely with senior leaders, engineering, project managers, cost leaders, procurement, learning and development, operations, and site EHS teams to ensure consistent application of policies, effective risk reduction, and continuous improvement worldwide.

This position focuses on supporting business transformation, operational excellence, risk governance, leadership engagement, and the development of scalable HSW programs that drive measurable business outcomes. This role requires a strong construction safety consulting background, excellent leadership capabilities, and experience managing client relationships, compliance programs, audits, and health and safety advisory services throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, lead complex HSW initiatives across multiple business units, and support business growth through client engagement, thought leadership, and strategic consulting services.

Responsibilities

Enterprise HSW Strategy & Governance
  • Execute the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide HSW strategies, frameworks, and governance models.
  • Partner with executive leadership teams to align HSW objectives with broader business goals and operational priorities.
  • Establish HSW performance indicators, reporting structures, and management review processes.
  • Dive organizational HSW maturity and develop strategic roadmaps for continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to clients and project teams on construction health and safety matters.

Business Leadership & Advisory
  • Serve as the advisor for enterprise and real estate internal business partners on HSW transformation, culture development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with line leaders, business unit executives, program sponsors, and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate executive workshops and leadership engagement programs.
  • Support projects across lines of business in establishing accountability frameworks and integrating HSW into business decision-making processes.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on industry trends, benchmarking, and leading practices.

Program Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Lead delivery of complex HSW programs across diverse portfolios and geographic regions.
  • Oversee program governance, resource planning, and H&S performance reporting at the business and project level.
  • Aid in the development of HSW processes, standards, and operational controls and the implementation of processes to support the organization change management functions.
  • Evaluate contractors and supply chain safety programs to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and risk compliance reviews to assess performance and identify corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, workshops, and industry awareness and client specific solutions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of project safety records and compliance requirements.
  • Assess, trend organizational risks and opportunities through audits, assessments, and operational reviews. Support continual improvement of risk management across the business.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, hazard analyses, and design-for-safety reviews throughout project delivery.
  • Identify and ensure effective implementation of corrective action programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety Culture & Leadership Development
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen organizational safety culture, employee engagement, and workforce wellbeing.
  • Design and implement leadership development programs focused on accountability, coaching, and risk-based decision making.
  • Promote human and organizational performance principles and proactive risk management behaviors.
  • Support strategic initiatives associated with enterprise HSW transformation.

Business Development & Growth
  • Support business development activities, growth pursuits, proposal development, and leadership ready presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand HSW consulting services within existing and new client accounts.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, industry forums, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with regional and national leadership teams to drive market growth strategies.
  • Participate in account planning and strategic client management activities.

Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop leaders and professionals across multiple programs and projects towards building a mature Health and Safety culture.
  • Foster collaboration across operations, project management, quality, and client teams.
  • Support talent development, and recruitment initiatives for project based activities.
  • Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and client service excellence.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in HSW leadership, operational risk management, consulting, or enterprise program management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide HSW programs across large, complex organizations within project management and construction.
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive organizational change.
  • Experience developing governance structures, management systems, and performance measurement frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of US and Canadian regulatory requirements (e.g. OSHA, EPA, Provincial and Territorial Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), and Canada Labour Programs and Codes), risk management principles, and H&S management system standards (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001)) in general industry and construction regulations.
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • OSHA 30 (General Industry and Construction), OSHA 500, Provincial Supervisor Safety Training, Construction Safety Training System (CSTS), Certified safety professional/instructor credentials such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent
  • Strong business and HSW acumen and experience supporting business growth initiatives

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Safety, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Health, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting Fortune 500 organizations, large capital programs, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, construction, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation and culture-change initiatives.
