Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As an Associate Director in Group Risk Management, you will provide independent credit oversight across RBC's Agricultural Commercial Lending Portfolio. Balancing business growth with prudent risk management, you will assess credit quality at both the portfolio and transactional level, ensuring risks remain aligned with RBC's risk appetite and regulatory requirements (OSFI, Basel, etc.). This role is critical to protecting shareholder value while enabling business success.
What will you do?- Actively participate in the communication on risk and risk appetite within the adjudication team and throughout the enterprise to maintain RBC's strong risk culture
- Strengthen RBC's risk capabilities through investment in measurement, understanding, and management practices
- Drive efficiency by identifying opportunities to streamline risk processes and enhance accessibility and responsiveness
- Adjudicate transactions in the context business strategy and portfolio objectives while adhering to stated risk policies, procedures, and processes
- Lead change management with a One RBC mindset, simplifying complexity where possible
- Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and being followed to protect shareholder interests
- Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated within policy and product guidelines, standards, and procedures and ensures exceptions are appropriately documented and substantiated
- Promote consistency in credit decisions by proactively leveraging available expertise across risk teams and simplifying complex processes
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:- 4+ years of risk management experience and/or Commercial Account Management experience within the financial business space or relevant industry.
- Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Undergraduate Degree in Business or Risk related field
- Sound understanding of the role of second line of defense risk governance and experience in Risk Management
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial banking and lending products
- Business and Financial Insight: applies business understanding to make sound decisions and solve problems in a team environment
- Proficiency with Bank technology (Synergy, Newton etc.)
Nice-to-have:- In-depth knowledge of RBC Risk Policies, procedures & practices, Folios etc.
- Proficiency with Bank Technology
- Bilingual, Fluency in French
- Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.)
- Club and Syndication financing experience.
