What You Will Do:

We have an exciting remote work opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Pratt & Whitney as Associate Director, Global Trade - DT/GT & Automated Export Control Systems (AECS).

This is a strategic leadership role at the intersection of Global Trade, Digital Technology and business transformation. The successful candidate will help shape how Global Trade requirements are designed, embedded and automated across a complex, highly regulated global enterprise.

This role is ideal for a Global Trade leader who wants to move beyond traditional compliance and help design the technology, processes and controls that enable the next generation of automated Global Trade compliance.

This role will report to the Director, Global Trade, DT/GT and Automated Export Control Systems (AECS), and will:
  • Lead the integration of Global Trade into the digital enterprise, ensuring GT requirements are embedded early in digital strategies, projects, applications and technology solutions rather than addressed after the fact for Pratt & Whitney and all its global sites.
  • Serve as a senior Global Trade advisor across Digital Technology and business transformation initiatives, with at least general substantive knowledge across:
    • Jurisdiction and Classification
    • Authorizations and Licensing
    • Tangible Transfers - Import and Export
    • Intangible Transfers
    • Sanctions and Screening
  • Translate Global Trade requirements into clear business and technology requirements, and confidently explain, defend and challenge those requirements with Global Trade, Digital Technology, business leaders, project teams and senior executives.
  • Assess and challenge technology and business initiatives where project priorities, Global Trade requirements, compliance risk or business objectives are not aligned; develop clear recommendations and drive issues to resolution.
  • Lead the evolution of the Automated Export Control System (AECS) value stream, defining future-state capabilities and advancing scalable approaches to automation, data-driven controls and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC).
  • Establish the Global Trade governance and engagement model for technology initiatives, ensuring GT is involved at the appropriate point in the project lifecycle and that requirements are incorporated into architecture, processes, systems of record and controls.
  • Assess and strengthen the Global Trade control environment across digital tools and processes, identifying capability gaps, emerging risks and opportunities to improve automation, scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Influence enterprise and corporate Global Trade initiatives, ensuring business requirements and risks are understood while supporting alignment with broader enterprise strategies and standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership and visibility across the portfolio, bringing clarity to complex issues, surfacing risks and dependencies, and enabling senior leaders to make informed decisions.
  • Build strong relationships and lead through influence across Global Trade, Digital Technology and the business, removing barriers and driving alignment in a highly matrixed, global organization.
  • Challenge the status quo and proactively identify opportunities to improve how Global Trade compliance is delivered through technology, processes and data.
  • Must be able to travel between company sites in support of project needs. Travel approximately 10% of the time.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years of experience in Global Trade, export compliance, trade technology or related roles, including experience with export control and sanctions regulations; OR an advanced degree and 10+ years of experience in Global Trade, export compliance, trade technology or related roles, including experience with export control and sanctions regulations.
  • US Person - This job requires a U.S. Person. A U.S. Person is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals granted refugee or asylee status in the U.S. are considered U.S. persons.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with enterprise platforms and technologies such as SAP/SAP GTS, classification and licensing solutions, sanctions screening, identity and access management, data governance or other compliance automation technologies.
  • Experience designing or implementing automated Global Trade controls, export compliance systems, digital compliance capabilities or Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC).
  • Experience translating regulatory or compliance requirements into technology requirements, system controls and scalable business processes.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate risk, business value, cost and operational impact when making recommendations.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively with senior executives and demanding stakeholders, including the ability to challenge decisions constructively and influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex Global Trade and technology issues and present clear, concise recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience working across multiple geographies, business units and regulatory environments is an asset.
  • Substantive knowledge of Global Trade requirements across jurisdiction/classification, authorizations, tangible and intangible transfers, and sanctions/screening.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Global Trade requirements to complex business and technology environments and to explain, defend and challenge requirements with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with automated trade compliance systems and digital technologies, such as ERP/GTS platforms, classification solutions, screening platforms, data governance, access-control solutions or similar technologies.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry or complex global environment, such as aerospace and defense, advanced manufacturing, automotive, semiconductors, energy, life sciences, technology or similar industries.
  • Experience working within or closely with a Digital Technology organization, with an understanding of enterprise architecture, application development, data, access controls and technology delivery processes.
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to understand complex problems, identify the real risk and translate it into clear business and technology decisions.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, particularly within a matrixed, global organization involving Global Trade, Digital Technology, business functions and corporate stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, escalate risks and drive issues to resolution.
