The Position

The Associate Director, Global Environmental & Sustainability Programs, is responsible for governing Environmental & Sustainability data, processes, and reporting within assigned areas across Organon’s global operations, including supporting supply chain and procurement functions as needed for Scope 3–related sustainability and decarbonization initiatives. This role supports strategic sustainability planning, strengthens regulatory readiness, and ensures alignment with evolving international frameworks such as CSRD with a focus in Air, Water and Sustainability.

The successful candidate will be a proactive sustainability leader who drives improvements in environmental data integrity, risk identification, and cross‑functional execution while contributing expert insights to leadership discussions. This role operates as a governance and technical leader and does not include people management or enterprise program ownership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Environmental Sustainability reporting within areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with CSRD and other international standards.

• Lead governance of environmental data processes, including data collection protocols, dashboards, audit mechanisms, and controls for ESG data integrity.

• Develop and maintain methodologies for sustainability metrics, ensuring consistency and accuracy across functions and regions.

• Support supply chain and procurement teams in establishing and validating environmental and decarbonization-related Scope 3 methodologies where aligned to the role's scope.

• Support the development of 5‑year sustainability frameworks, providing guidance and tools that enable sites and global functions to build aligned environmental strategies.

• Collaborate with supply chain and procurement functions to inform Scope 3 decarbonization planning and governance where relevant.

• Provide analytic insights and risk identification to support advisement to senior leadership (including OMS SHE Council) on regulatory trends, sustainability priorities, and capital needs.

• Identify and support mitigation of environmental compliance risks within assigned program areas, including those related to Scope 1 & 2 emissions and relevant Scope 3 considerations.

• Drive cross-functional collaboration to embed sustainability governance practices into business operations globally.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on environmental data governance, reporting expectations, and sustainability frameworks.

• Partner closely with regional SHE leads, site environmental teams, and corporate functions to ensure consistent execution of environmental sustainability requirements.

• Work with supply chain and procurement stakeholders to support environmental data needs, Scope 3 decarbonization workstreams, and reporting expectations within defined areas of responsibility.

• Monitor emerging environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks relevant to Scopes 1, 2, and 3, assessing potential impacts on Organon’s global operations.

• Represent Organon in select external regulatory, industry, and sustainability forums to stay current on best practices and evolving requirements.

• Synthesize regulatory developments and industry insights to support internal decision-making and communication.

• Develop insights and summaries that help supply chain, procurement, and other business functions prepare for sustainability‑related changes.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.

• At least 7 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or ESG-related roles in industrial, pharmaceutical, or corporate environments.

• Strong understanding of international environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks (e.g., CSRD, GRI, SASB, ISSB).

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex environmental data systems, verification processes, and governance structures.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize regulatory and sustainability data.

• Excellent communication skills, with experience supporting presentations to senior leadership.

• Proven ability to collaborate across functions, regions, and levels in a transparent, solutions-focused manner.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

• Experience working in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  

• Involvement in ESG reporting transformation, sustainability performance monitoring, or environmental data assurance.

• Familiarity with environmental modeling or emissions reduction planning.

• Experience supporting or participating in cross-functional sustainability initiatives.
