Position Summary

The Alumni and External Relations Specialist 4 (Associate Director, Employer Relations) serves as the principal resource for managing employer relations in designated industries. This position handles activities associated with reaching, serving, and engaging employers through programs, events, products, and services in the Technology sector.

The Alumni and External Relations Specialist 4 (Associate Director, Employer Relations) translates constituent needs and priorities into customized programs to create, enhance, and sustain relationships between the campus and its external constituencies. Additionally, this position partners with Alumni Development/Corporate Relations and student clubs to ensure recruiter funds are targeted appropriately.

  • Using institutional knowledge and awareness of constituency perception, designs, develops and implements short and long-term strategic plans, programs, events, and activities.
  • Aggressively identify and contact companies about recruiting Haas students, both on and off campus.
  • Work proactively with recruiting companies in technology, fintech and media/entertainment to strengthen their relationships with Haas. Assist them in developing and executing recruiting and marketing strategies.
  • Work with other offices at Haas, including faculty marketing, development, continuing education, and alumni offices to develop comprehensive relationships between companies and Haas.
  • Promote the Haas program and students at industry conferences and events and regularly communicate with potential employers about recruiting activities available through Haas.
  • Broaden the number of opportunities provided within existing recruiting companies, actively promoting the school in other divisions and groups.
  • Support the efforts of part-time MBA job seekers by finding experienced hire opportunities or midyear internships.
  • Build long term relationships with students and alumni in mid year internships
  • Build long term relationships with students and alumni in mid and senior level positions. Facilitate networking opportunities among students and alumni/contacts in industry.
  • Actively reaches out to new potential employers throughout the year as part of teams business development campaign
  • Promote employment, networking, and corporate sponsorship opportunities to appropriate student populations.

  • Occasional oversight of all aspects of complex external relations programs, projects and events, including coordinating special programs and overseeing production of written and visual materials.

  • In partnership with our Event Manager, plans and implements large-scale student and alumni networking events

  • Quickly and appropriately identifies, addresses, and mitigates unforeseen and / or rapidly unfolding events that may negatively impact relationships between the campus and various constituencies, keeping senior management appropriately advised and notified.

  • Analyzes, summarizes and / or reviews data, reporting findings, interpreting results and / or making recommendations.
  • May research various industry topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans, keeping management informed as necessary and providing input as required.

  • Identify and promote growth industry areas, promote to our students and communicate with CMG
  • Responds to constituent inquiries from employers, prospective employers, corporate partners, alumni, students, and prospective students. May mentor less experienced staff members.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of the campus, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, issues of concern and infrastructure and/or the ability to learn
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with MBA populations.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted annual range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $94,300 - $134,100.
  • This is an exempt, monthly-paid position.
  • This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Career position eligible for UC benefits.
